Dumbo

Glad to hear Dumbo is much better. 61g is a very low weight for a Syrian hamster - although she doesn't look underweight? How small is she? (Eg how long is she?). Maybe she was younger than you realised when she came to you and only a few weeks old possibly?

Glad to hear she is doing better, hopefully that cold is going for good. Dumbo has such a pretty coat

Thats also on my mind, "does the breeder really forgot about her age?" With breeder calculation she is 4 months this month, however i feel like she is 3 months. I never did this before but her height approximately around 7 - 10cm (from head to tail)

So she's quite small then. Average Syrian is about 6 inches long (ie about 15cm). I was thinking maybe she was less than 6 weeks old when she came to you possibly. Although she may just be a small hamster. Even so 61g is very small.

her weight remind me Tako, he had 60gr weight when he reached 5 months. Dumbo really have a thick coat feature which make her looks bigger even my cactus hideout really not fit on her anymore. However she is still young and may need more protein since her seedmix only contain 18% protein. I try to give him BSF and maybe will add a block of Mazuri Rat Pellet to improve her diet and needs.

18% protein is fine although 20% would be good too. I would maybe give fresh extras like chopped hard boiled egg, rather than Mazuri.

I have been giving Socks cat treats, which @Daisy uses as well, and he seems to like them. They are high in protein and very convenient to feed. Socks likes mature cheddar cheese as well!

Thanks Maz and Socks Mom. Which Cat treat do you use? Actually in one of Poppy Brew Hamstery's video, they are recommend put a Rat Mazuri Block into the seedmix. However fresh or other treats can be a nice option as well. I would to try give Dumbo Brazilian Nut or Pecan Nut in moderation, Dumbo also not a fans of linseed. She just took a several linseed and leave the rest.

Hard boiled egg also given in moderation, i just switch up between dried chicken, tofu and hard boiled as the main protein.

I've been using Dreamies cat treats. I'm sure a few blocks of Mazuri food would be OK, if she likes them, they are only a few centimeters. They seem to have lots of soya and alfalfa in them. The other protein options sound nice, human food.

Mazuri is fairly popular in the US but not with everyone. I'm sure she'd enjoy a brazil nut :) If the basic mix has 18% protein you don't need to do a lot of supplementing. 18% on it's own is enough. A bit extra can help. If she's just a small hamster then I'd focus on general health and good diet and they do love fresh food and nuts :) You can also give the occasional bit of roast chicken or beef if you have it yourself. No sauces, spices or gravy.

thanks Maz, im kinda glad to know this.
I never though 18% was enough before, because in my local forum said for the age below 6 months should have 19 - 20% up for protein. Thats why i though should improve her a bit of protein before. Does Wagyu beef or duck is alright for hamster? I saw someone sell wagyu cube for hamster and also duck.

I'm not sure to be honest. I hadn't heard of Wagyu before and had to look it up. It seems to be just beef with marbling but possibly fattier? I can't work out how they can achieve the marbling with Duck, which is a very lean meat.

Most meats are suitable as long as plain cooked. Our first hamster had beef, chicken, pheasant, guinea fowl and grouse at various times :) I always gave it out of the cage and he would eat a bit and leave the rest. If the hamster pouches it, it's more problematic as you don't know if they've hoarded it and it's gone off. So best to only give a teeny tiny bit then they're more likely to eat it than hoard it :-) And maybe only once a week. Twice a week max.

They can get all the protein they need from fresh "extras" like egg, meat and nuts, without needing to use lab block/Mazuri. Tofu is another source of protein.

We got a lot variety of proteins sold for hamster snacks.

And this one freeze dried duckling. Im sure duckling have more fat contain than chicken.

They seem fine but just a tiny bit.

Thanks Maz i would try it.

A bit update, tomorrow is Dumbo last medication. She have been more active lately, no runny nose anymore. im not sure its sneeze or not because the small sound cant be hear clearly when she sniff her food.
