Donations 2026/27

Hi Maz how can I donate over PayPal? Have you got a link?
🌺🙏
Hello :-) There's a link/box on the first post in the thread which enables payment by Apple Pay, Amazon or bank debit card :-) But no paypal unfortunately right now.

See post no 6 on the previous page for the paypal fiasco @Amy . It seems to have changed regulations in the past year and a lot of bureaucracy and lack of communication to try and solve it. I'm probably just going to close the account, as the other payment options are simpler and just as secure, and they charge much less commission.

You just click on the blue "Donate" button on post 1 of this thread and it takes you to the payment page where you select which payment option and enter the amount you want to donate. Or you can enter the amount on page one and then click Donate, it does the same thing and doesn't show up to anyone else :-)

I can’t pay with my bank card, as this is connected to all of our companies accounts (I do all payments) therefore I use PayPal (occasionally) but mainly Klarna. I don’t use any other forms of payment as some can be unsafe 🥴
I tried Amazon but as I am not in the UK I received the message I sent above 🤷🏼‍♀️
Sorry Amazon doesn't work. It's offered as an option but I didn't know how it worked. Maybe it could be because you're in Germany as well?

I've just spent about 2 hours on a chat with paypal getting the forum account sorted out after being sent round the houses yesterday. So it might be working again now. But I'll need to test first!

I won't know until tomorrow whether withdrawals are working ok, but paypal isn't the best option because it charges 33p out of every pound! So a lot of the contribution goes to paypal rather than the forum.

Indeed - if you want reduced commission you have to be a registered charity. I did look into making us into a charity but we wouldn't be able to be because to be registered as a charity you need a minimum income of £5,000 a year. Which of course we don't have!

The Stripe commission on a payment is MUCH more reasonable, so then more of it goes to the forum.

Thank you Socks Mum, Vanessa 1, Scarlet42, Yorkie, Roborovskis r Us and Amy :-) Enjoy your banners :-)

Our paypal account is apparently working again now, but it would be better to use the other payment method on the previous page, unless someone really wants to use paypal, just because paypal's fee charge is unreasonable. I'm keeping an eye on it though as my test payment of £1 and Amy's contribution still say pending ... so will make sure it gets cleared before adding a link again.

Hurrah - paypal is fully functional again. No more pending. I'll re-add the link and then people have the option.

Apparentky if I offer a banner for a donation then it’s classed as a sale and not supposed to use the word donation in the same sentence in the post or payment button. So I’ve changed the wording to “contributions “ 😊. AI told me that payment sites have bots that scan websites and if they see you are doing something that looks like a transaction for reward rather than a “donation “ they can freeze your account.

So I shall stick to “contributions” 😊 I think it’s partly because these payment sites charge less commission for “donations “ so only allow that terminology if you’re a registered charity.

When did life get so complicated?!

Hi Maz! I just donated through Stripe a minute ago. Thank you for everything you do to keep this lovely forum going !:hamsterumbrella::giggle:
