Aw, lovely to see pictures of Cookie and to hear he is doing well. 🙂

He looks amazing for his age :-) His fur is lovely and looks in good condition. After you asked about new treats - our Syrian is currently enjoying an empty tissue box on the floor when he's out :-).

Here's some pictures of the little guy it's damm hard to get pictures of him when he is running around causing mischief he is still doing very well despite his old age I hope you and your little friends are doing well

Quick question my room can get hot from time to time due to my computer being on most of the time is it fine to crack open a window? I've heard that airflow is not great for hamsters online but I am not sure why
Thanks
Best wishes

His fur still looks amazing :-) It's fine to have a window open - ventilation is good. In fact in really hot weather some people have a fan in the room (but not too close to the hamster cage). What you've probably read about is that hamster cages shouldn't be in a draught or near an open window.

Hey guys I have caught cookie two nights in a row now sleeping in the corner of his cage under his hamster wheel

Is this worrying behaviour or could this be due too the heatwave we are getting in England currently? If so is there anything I can do to help him keep cool I have removed some of his excess bedding and cardboard that covers up his den to maybe help keep it cooler
He is still drinking and storing and eating food and sometimes he will go on his wheel for a couple of minutes

Here's an up to date picture of him
Thanks
Best wishes

Lovely to see Cookie.
The heat probably will be affecting him, there’s a thread here about keeping them cool which should give you some ideas on how to help with that.

Some of ours slept outside their houses as well due to the heatwave.

As the others say, he will be trying to keep cool. I wouldn't remove his bedding and cardboard though. it's better to just try and keep the room cooler if you can. Eg have windows open now and then. Plus all the tips in the thread Elusive linked - a couple of ceramic mugs rotated between the fridge (not freezer) and the cage will give him a nice cool place to sit. I've found that works well before. The mug takes quite a long time to get cool enough once it's in the fridge, but once, it is you put it in the hamster's cage, on it's side. Or some other ceramic hide. Then put another mug in the fridge. Just keep swapping them round.

Thank you guys! I will give everything ago and see what works best for him!

Thanks
Best wishes

Quick question as well is it normal for your hamster to be I am not sure how else to describe it but shakey or jittery those are the only words I can use to describe

It’s not normal for a hamster to be shaky unless something is wrong, was this just for a while or all the time? Any other changes you’ve noticed?
They can get a bit shaky & wobbly with old age but otherwisse it will be a sign that something isn’t right.

Hi Robbie. As Elusive says it isn't normal really. I'm not sure there's much you can do though other than keep him comfortable, as he's quite an old little man. It may be he is nearing his time, so you might need to be prepared for that. Or it may be just a blip. It's possible he may have some pain though, so it could be an idea to see if the vet will prescribe some Metacam (pain relief) to help keep him comfortable.

Having said that, sometimes they just suddenly come round and are normal again.

Okay thank you guys I will keep a close eye on him i had not gotten him out his cage in a little while when he was on the floor he was running around normally the windows were fully open not sure if he was possibly cold like I said I will keep a close eye on him and see if I notice anything at all

Thanks
