How old is he again? Their fur can start thinning from 18 months onwards really. Is he still on linseeds?

So many things can cause fur loss & as Maz said it could just be age but it does seem a bit strange the way it happens & then regrows.
He does sound fine in himself so it doesn’t sound like much of a problem for him. Have you tried evening primrose oil to see if that helps at all?

The fur thinning isn't seasonal. Clive's around 16 months now so i don't think it's age related. He gets linseeds and i don't think he has a food related deficiency. I haven't tried evening primrose but will read up on it here.
I think there's a medical reason for this but as long as hairloss is the only symptom it's not causing any real problems.

Took a photo of Clive earlier where you can see his fur changing and becoming thinner.

Same happened last year over a few months. He gradually went bald around the middle and then the fur slowly grew back.

No other symptoms of whatever is causing this.

I remember when Clive had the same pattern in his fur last year. Looks like he is still having fun in his dig box. :)

It is a strange fur loss patch. I hope it grows back again. Assume he is still on Linseeds?

I've watched Clive run around with full pouches for a while now. He was looking for a way back to his cage.
Eventually, it must have dawned on him that I am the only way back. He climbed onto my legs and sat there looking at me.

I think the Linseeds are a bit more than just nutrition though. They do have the vitamin e for skin and fur but I think they can be beneficial for hormones etc as well. They're supposed to help lower blood pressure, improve digestion, contain something to slow tumour growth, and balance blood sugar.

While Clive was out i cleaned the poops away from his door and removed some old hoard because there was little space left for him in his house.
He wasn't impressed and back shovelled substrate to close his door. Then he literally barricaded his door with a piece of cork across which he had fetched from under the mat. In front of the cork is a stone which was in front of his sand jar and then he tried to pull another along.
He must have spotted me then, the human intruder and abandoned the stone to go back to his house door.

By moving the substrate he created a ditch by his mat and the piece of cork that acted as a step is by his house now. Trying to think how to sort this now. I think i'll fill the ditch with aspen while he is in his cage watching.

What a busy boy Clive is! And likes things how he likes them!

Eventually, he chucked the cork aside to get into his house. There was a lot of cluttering and rummaging coming from his house so he must have been arranging things.

It makes you wonder what they do in their houses. The other morning - about mid morning - there was a loud, regular knocking noise coming from inside Raffy's house. I can only assume he was chewing something like a whimzee and it was bashing against the side of the house. I said - you're supposed to be asleep what are you doing in there? And it went quiet.
