previous to me getting pebbleheart she used to run on a 4 inch wheel and after i moved her to her new cage she's tried out her new wheel once. she sat on it and tried to run but the wheel didn't move with her (nothing was blocking the wheel movement). i was wondering if taping some track pieces might help her get a better grip if that's what she's struggling with? is this going to hurt/damage her paws? this is the specific track i was looking at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FXXLR591?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

thank you!

(reposted bc it was in the wrong thread lol i'll try to delete it once i find out how to)

The new wheel I bought for the playpen would be great as it is very easy running, as she is small and has less weight I guess some wheels could be too tight for her to get running?

Hi. No. Sandy tracks are not good for hamsters feet - it could give them bumblefoot. Hamsters can grip wheels very well without them :-) The only wheels that are less grippy are those with a completely smooth surface (usually acrylic) without any texture or little ridges. They can be less easy to run in (slippy) and what some people do is stick cork inside the running track. In fact there are some wheels which come with cork running tracks and also replacement cork running tracks you can buy that might fit in a different wheel, if cut to size eg.

Cork is good for hamster feet and helps grip. But really you shouldn't need anything. :)
