All my piggies!

Ivy has safely delivered 3 big, healthy babies. She's done a fantastic job and is well in herself!

The babies are so beautiful! They have Ivy's colouring. I am so happy to hear she and the babies are well. :)

Sorry to hear about Ebony but so pleased all 3 babies arrived safely and are healthy

The little ones are all dry and clean.

The 2 girls are 111g and 99g and the little male is 95g.

We have called them Popcorn, Kiwi and Banjo 😄

Oh my goodness! I have tears in my eyes seeing this precious and beautiful family! I love the names you have chosen for them. This makes me miss my guinea pigs so much. 😍

Lovely photos. All the babies are beautiful 😍 You've chosen great names for them. I'm so pleased mum and babies are okay 💕

Wonderful news. Congratulations to you and to the new family.

Gorgeous baby piggies! They are so beautiful. Ivy is very clever. Glad they are all well. I'm looking forward to seeing more about the baby piggies!

Oh wow, what wonderful news! The babies are as beautiful as her mum. Welcome to the world little piggies!
It is also lovely to know that these 3 babies are going to have a happy life.

We had a rocky first night, Ivy continued to bleed which is pretty normal however there was more blood than I would've liked to see, luckily this did stop, although she then went on to develop soft poops..again, fairly normal after eating placentas etc but still concerned me a bit, that resolved in a few hours though luckily. Today everyone has been doing wonderfully 🙂

The girls lost 8g each and little Banjo lost 6g, which is normal while they're moving over to taking nutrition themselves and getting their digestive systems working, rather than from their umbilical cord.

Theyre active and doing well! I'm so proud of how well Ivy is doing and I'm so glad she nor her daughters will ever have to deal with pregnancy ever again! I'm excited to be able to raise the little babies knowing they'll never have to deal with being hungry or neglected for a single day in their lives, unlike a lot of the others I have.

Glad they are all doing well even after the odd scare. Seeing them in your hand gives a perspective on how small they are! Those gangly legs! They are really adorable. Ivy looks happy and contented.

I'm so pleased Ivy and babies are doing well. Lovely to see some more photos too 💕

A couple of questions...

Does Ivy mind you picking up the babies?

Will the 4 of them live together as family permanently?

No she doesn't mind at all, bless her. Most piggies are more than happy for their babies to be picked up, even while still wet from being born (the little male appeared to have a club foot at first so I did give them a quick check as soon as I found them and she was fine with it, luckily his leg is fine, he had obviously just been a bit squished before birth 😅)

I'm unsure if they will stay together yet, little Banjo will become fertile at 3 weeks so will have to be separated to avoid Ivy and sisters becoming pregnant, he will likely be put with one of my spayed ladies, while the others go into a group, until he is old enough to be neutered at about 4 months old, then I'm not entirely sure what I'll do! It will depend on how the rest of his family get on within the group they're added to, if anyone is being left out or if he becomes especially fond of the lady I pick to live with him.

Longterm, he will probably go into whichever group loses their neutered male first. Oliver is becoming an older boy while Finley has Osteodystrophy and is sadly unlikely to reach old age, however fingers crossed he will! I'll have to just see what happens as we go.

It is just wonderful to know this lovely family will always be safe and loved. I love seeing the pictures. What a gorgeous family. 😍

Thank you for answering my questions. I find it all very interesting. 💕

How are the baby piggies doing? :) And how is little Saffron?

Saffron is doing well! Still a little ghost hamster bless her, but she potters around most nights. She's made it clear she would rather be a hands off hamster so I'm respecting that rather than upsetting her, which is a shame but as long as she's happy.

The baby piggies are doing fantastic, growing like weeds, Banjo was separated at 3 weeks and moved into my bedroom by himself, living under Forrest and Silver until he can be castrated and put back with his mum and sisters.

I've been ridiculously busy dealing with one issue or another with various piggies, 3 surgeries for them, then Fern was hospitalised at the start of the week and put on oxygen. No one expected her to live and euthenasia seemed the best option however I couldn't do it.. so I took her home. She's been getting round the clock care between nebuliser treatments to help clear her lungs and airways, force feeding her, making sure she gets her meds etc, it's been incredibly stressful, I've barely eaten or slept trying to keep her alive but she is improving slowly. The fact she's still here is a miracle.

Some updated pictures of the babies for everyone :)
This was them at about a week old

It is wonderful to hear how well the babies are doing. I love the photos and Ivy looks like a protective Mum.

I am so sorry to hear how poorly Fern is. You are doing an amazing job of caring for her. I really hope she makes a full recovery.

Aw, you are so considerate to accept little Saffron as she is. :)
