Albert has been out free roaming.

Firstly Albert gave my hubby a well over due Irish dance lesson by nipping his little toe. You can clearly see two teeth marks. I keep asking my hubby how his love bite is

Then Albert decided to steal the cloth that I always put in front of his free roaming toilet (the cloth is to catch any drips). He dragged the cloth underneath the sofa.

I was tearing up some sheets of loo roll for Albert's bedding and Albert took a sheet and went running off underneath the sofa with that too.

My son had a look underneath the sofa and said " it looks like Albert is making a nest".

I got worried about Albert chewing the cloth so my hubby had to coax Albert out and I put him back in his cage for safety while we pulled the sofa out to retrieve the cloth.

We found the cloth, loo tissue and lots of seed husks.



I've made Albert a try bed/nest to go underneath the sofa. I've used Plastikote to protect it in case he wees in it. It's going to go right at the back in the corner. The string is so I can pull it out easy without having to get help to pull the sofa out. I will put a bit of bedding in there once it's dry. Albert does like to have a nap underneath the sofa so hopefully he'll like it.

Albert had a wonderful time free roaming! I like the idea of attaching string to his toilet to make it easier to pull out.

They certainly keep the grey matter active love the box with string attached for under the sofa idea

Sounds as though that’s a favourite spot under the sofa, the nest box is a good idea, I wonder what he’ll get up to with the string….!

Knowing Albert he'll chew the string and I'll pull on it and there'll be no box at the end of it

Fabulous idea to pop something under the sofa for him, look forward to seeing how he reacts to this. Albert, you are so funny with your love of wanting everything as your own. So many great photos, especially eating the broccoli, he’s such a sweetie.

I'm very worried about Albert. He's been very unsettled today and hasn't had much sleep. He looks very tired. He keeps coming out of his house and trying to sleep in his sand bath. He's never been like this before not even on hot days.

Sprite has been the same. I am guessing they are just fed up with the heat. Por Sprite has been trying to sleep all day and moving from one place to another. Hopefully the weather will cool and they can sleep properly.

I'm going to give Albert a small piece of chilled cucumber to see if that helps.

Eddie was like that and moved around a lot in his sand. They appreciate a little piece of something cool.

It does sound as though it’s most likely the heat, hope that’s all it is & it cools down a bit where you are soon.

I stayed up late to make sure Albert was okay.
He eventually got up and had some chilled cucumber. He then had a good wash and brush up. He was looking for a cuddle so I gave him a quick cuddle because I didn't want to make him all hot again. He took some of his favourite seeds from me and ran off to put them in his nest for later. He then came straight back and started running on his wheel.
I was happy that he was okay so I went to bed.

What kind of material is the sand bath made of? I find that ceramic holds a cold temperature better than glass or plastic. Something about that & kids play sand is a magical cooling pad for my little Henry.
