I would do it over about a week too but the hamster may have other ideas! When I've switched foods before and they like the new one they would only eat that and ignored the old one completely so they switched themselves virtually overnight.
Maybe put half and half of each out for a few days and then mostly the new one and just a little bit of the old one for a few days, then switch.

The protein is only 13.7% in the Little One mix, compared to 18% in HH so it will need the protein supplementing in the first year of life. I'd suggest daily protein extras - mealworms, nuts, dried chicken etc.
It's partly why I've stuck to the Bunny Dream dwarf food, despite it being harder to get hold of and costing more, as it has 15.5% protein so less supplementation needed. However Pip is over 18 months now so the Little One Mix might be just right for him now.

I gave Albert's cage a half base clean this morning. When I started to take everything out off the cage Albert thought it would be a good idea to go digging in his digbox and hide. There was no way I was going to put my hand in there because he's very protective of his digbox. He eventually came out and let me scoop him up so I could put him in his carrier. He had a good sleep and for the first time he let me scoop him up out of his carrier. We had a nice cuddle and then back to his cage. Albert has been very busy building new burrows and nest. He's blocked his door now so I take that as a "do not disturb" sign.

That really did go well (sorry I sound like i’m parroting the others now!) it was lovely to read & Albert is just so sweet, can’t blame him for putting up the do not disturb sign while he puts things to rights though bless him!

After doing a half base clean in Albert's cage yesterday I thought Albert might be angry with me. But this morning Albert was poking his nose out of his house and I said "hello Albert" and he came out to investigate. I opened his cage and he let me scoop him up. We had some cuddles and sofa time. Albert must be happy with his half base clean.
