Actually a giant hamster charging at you would be pretty scary ha ha.

Albert surprised me today by climbing the stairs

That's fantastic to see :-) He is really loving that tube and he's very brave climbing all those stairs. Raffy was a bit nervous on stairs the couple of times I tried him, and didn't attempt to climb them.

Aww! Look how happy Albert is climbing the stairs! He did it so gracefully too. He really is adorable!

Albert was free roaming and I only turned my back for a minute and when I turned back he was sitting on the first step of the stairs. He's never been interested in the stairs before. He climbed them 3 times all the way to the top.

He really is loving free roaming. He looked very proud climbing the stairs. :)

Did Albert get bored with hairdressing?
Looks like he took up a new hobby and has perfected the stair climbing already.
He's so adorable and entertaining to watch.

I'm not sure. Albert hasn't done hair for a few days now. Perhaps climbing the stairs is going to be his new hobby.

Due to size difference I've been trying to workout what is the equivalent of Albert climbing the stairs to me climbing the stairs.

Has Albert just climbed a small hill? Or am I just talking rubbish? 🤣

Well maybe you could go by the measurements. If Albert is say 3.5" long and the stair rise is say 7" then he is climbing something twice the size of him. So it would be like you trying to scale steps that were twice as tall as you. Which would be nigh on impossible for a human unless you had rock climbing gear. Whereas a hill wouldn't matter what size it is as you just walk up it for however short or long a time. Or maybe I am talking rubbish!

That sounds about right to me Maz.

I'm about 5ft 8in. So that's like me climbing carpeted stairs with the rise being 11ft 4in with my bare hands and feet.
13 steps.
I've got no chance of doing that without help.
So Albert is a lot stronger and fitter than me 🤣

Makes sense to me which makes him Olympic standard 😀 loved the videos by the way👍

Albert made it look so easy like he had done it endless times before. He's a pro. I'm going to watch the video again. Got to be seen to be believed.

I had a hamster who jumped down the stairs from step to step. Once at the bottom i picked him up and put him back to the top. He picked up so much speed that i had to rush down the stairs to get there before him.

Albert is so sweet & funny, really made me laugh to see him climbing the stairs, he really does look like a pro, that’s quite some feat for a tiny little ham!

That was such fun to watch and Albert used both ends-more understandable- but also straight up the middle. Very impressive indeed!
Hmmm, better make sure the cage is double locked every night or you could find yourself with a midnight visitor in the bedroom….

Good idea Coco. I will start double checking. I can imagine waking up to Albert sitting on my pillow looking at me. 🤣

Albert looks like he’s enjoying his new tube, exploring in and around it. Really enjoyed watching him make his way up the stairs, he made it look easy, very impressive. Well done Albert, he’ll be asking for the stairs every playtime now.

Last week I visited a country store in a near by village. I saw they sold some of the Little One range. I asked if they could order me a bag of the Little One Feed For Dwarf Hamsters. They were very happy to do this for me. I collected it yesterday. It smells yummy and I'm tempted to make some flapjacks out of it 🤣 I mixed it with some of Albert's other hamster food to transfer him over to the Little One mix. How long do I need to do that for before I can just give him the Little One mix?

I think Albert might object to you making flapjacks with his food unless he gets his share!

What food has he been on, I can’t remember, if it’s a similar food then you can change over fairly quickly, a few days to a week, if it’s very different to his current mix then maybe a week or two.

Harry Hamster and I add other seeds, nuts and meal worms.
