Adopted Hedwig today!

Brought hedwig home today! He’s a male Syrian, around 4 months old, they believe. I spent a week researching and ordering everything for him before bringing him home today

I was made aware that he’s always had a sticky eye on one side, but they weren’t sure what was causing it. He’s also been seen by a vet for it. This was impacting him being chosen to be taken home with someone so I took the keep lol. I’m hoping the change to Kaytee paper bedding might help.

Any feedback on the cage is welcome, but please be kind! It’s the Ferplast Domster size 100

Welcome to the forum Yes, I have heard of gerbils getting eye problems from wood shavings. Paper is much better

OMG LOL. He has great taste what can I say!!

My only suggestion would be to add a bit more bedding. There is a bit of a drop from the roof (if he happened to get up there) to the area on the left about a third of the way in - but I can’t see what’s in that area.

However I know it’s difficult if you had just get platform legs etc a certain height! There might be another way round it.

Yeah it’s been quite stressful trying to get all the right platforms! 1000% see what you mean though
