Has a handy shelf
I got it so I could "stack" two Plazas - one on the bottom shelf and one on the top. I only use the top now and have both cages at waist height! I can't find it for sale any more but it was a good way of having a cage near the floor, with a surface above it.
.The shelf looks great! Storage is a problem so the bottom shelf would be handy. Itās not so much that I prefer it on the floor just I havenāt thought what else is best to do yetā¦ itās already becoming pretty apparent that having it on the floor is a bit awkward for all except easy access to his playpenā¦oh sorry you prefer his cage on the floor! Yeah it is the Trixie one - I had it from my previous hamster (he used it as was, but back then I wasnāt aware of tunnelling substrates so he didnāt burrow beneath it and presumably liked how it acted as a kind of ready made burrowā¦ Iāll definitely try knocking the middle bit out! I just canāt afford a different style at the moment. Do you think if I knocked the middle out I could move his food store and try to encourage him to use it that way, or am I best leaving him to his awkward corner?!
My daughter is disgusted, she hasnāt seen him at all yet (heās mine not hers so itās fine, but sheās desperate to meet him!) last two evenings heās been out by 9, but tonight heās still sleeping (new hamster mum I hope heās okay worries..!)

.I just canāt stay up beyond 10, so I was hoping to get eyes on him to check heās okay. Iāve heard him now, even though heās still not surfaced, so I wonāt worry tonight - he just wonāt get any time out of his cage is all. But heās got plenty to occupy him and he probably is still tired from his travels and all the exploring and settling in to his new homeMaybe he is a bit tired form the excitement of the last few daysā¦.
Davy is normally awake by 9 and it isnāt long before he wants out. But first few days he came out so late a couple of times I had to go to bed! Most nights tho, I get him out to go in his playroom.
I expect Oreo will get into a routine soon
I want to get one but I donāt understand any of the technology - are they easy enough to use?

Itās really weird having a pet you canāt really check on to see theyāre settling in okay!I get anxious about Davy too donāt worry. They seem so little and vulnerable
My cats and ponies I check and spend time with every day. I know itās a good thing heās made himself a nice little burrow but it means I canāt even see him when heās sleeping! I definitely want to get a camera. I can see heās been out each night collecting food though and the water level goes down, so Iām sure heās fine!That sounds fab
my husband is really Not Interested in the hamster but Iāll get him to help me at some point, heās very techy so Iām sure itāll all make much more sense to him! It would be so cool to see him using his wheel and stuff!

Cleaning out (how best to) is definitely a topic i will have to start at some point - Iāve read the articles and itās all a bit different to what I am used to from years ago! Thereās no chance I can spot clean the corner he has currently burrowed in unless I pull the whole cage forward and unclip the top wire part
So rather than moving his hoard just add some new food inside the house plus a bit of cheddar cheese or cucumber and the smell should tempt him in. Also if you leave a little trail of sunflower seeds leading inside the house and a big pile of strips of toilet paper outside the house near the door. That should tempt him inside and he'll probably decide to nest in there. It can take them a few days to decide where to nest though.
