Why do robos roll?

I understand robo rolling in sand or substrate to clean themselves or perhaps it feels nice but does anybody know why they roll in general? For example, Orko rolls in his hides or on top of them. I wondered what the reason could be.

I’m not sure nor am I experienced with robos but maybe it could be him rubbing his scent on things?
