Hi all
Some really nice people on this forum introduced me to the brand Rodipet, and I really like their products.
When searching for the best dwarf hamster setup, I watched a lot of YouTube videos. I then decided to film my own, setting up this cage.
I hope it can give someone some inspiration :)
Feel free to give me some feedback. This cage is for our new dwarf, a winter white boy :)
I think this is a really nice cage, and I love the detail with the little window!
All the products I have used, are listed in the video discription.

It looks great :-) Looking forward to meeting your hammy!

I think it looks lovely. The only thing I would change is more bedding. Hamsters love to dig, make tunnels and burrows in bedding. I know you have some lovely sectioned off areas and it looks really nice. I put sand and other substrates on platforms so my hamster can use the underneath.

You bought such a lot of lovely hamster items. Your hamster is going to be so happy. :)

I think there is a very deep area of bedding at one side and a more shallow area at the other side :-) Based around the platform.

That does look nice, I like the Rodipet things too!
I think a bit more substrate for digging would be nice too, I think the rodipet platform is only about 15cm (not sure without checking so I could be wrong) a higher platform would allow for more burrowing area & there is plenty of height there so maybe something to consider.
I would go for a larger sand bath too, they do love to have a good dig & roll in the sand!

I really like it. All i can suggest is to add some lightweight enrichment on top of the substrate like a cork tunnel, wicker tippee or tunnel, that kind of thing.
Personally, i'd move the sandbath halfway under the platform and put a ceramic hide in its place.
Your dwarf will love his new home.

Agree - a little dwarfie might enjoy a bit more enrichment added like a few sprays. Rodipet do the millet selection but you can get all kinds of sprays :) Some foraging. And maybe the odd extra little hideout or tunnel/tube. Cardboard ones are fine too. Rosewood do a little carrot cottage - our Robo likes that - it's just a cardboard box with hay stuck to the outside and dried carrot on top. So makes a hide as well as something to forage.

But you can add things later and see how your hamster finds it :) They usually accept new things being added quite well, as long as it doesn't mean moving things around too much or taking something familiar away!

I loved how you had that tunnel hide up against the round window on the front of the cage :-) That will make a kind of watching subterranean area.

Thank you so much for your feedback.
I have added different hiding places (ceramic, wood and coconut), and i am hoping it will keep him from running deep down under the bedding everytime he sees us.
Also i have added som different sprays, a bigger sandbath and put the sandbath under the platform. I have also added another Rodipet tunnel to the tunnel system, under the bedding

He may like the coconut and log on top of the substrate. They often use hides like entrances to their burrows and sit in them looking out.

My Robos sometimes get startled and run off into a hide but don't always dive down a tunnel. They like the safety of a shelter to decide whether to come out again or go underground.

I love your cage and set up and i'm sure your hamster does as well.
Have we met your dwarfie? Sorry but i have a poor memory.

Can't wait to see your winter white dwarfie is he a purebred or a hybrid not that it matters but I don't get to see many pure winter whites

I think he’ll enjoy the extra hides too but agree with Beryl that he might like them on the substrate, some enjoy a hide on a platform but they do like to dig around a bit underneath & it might make him feel a bit safer like that too.

It looks great :-). Lots of hidey places and things to do and enrichment.

That really does look lovely. Well done 💕. Can’t wait to meet your little Ham x

Thanks again for all your help.
I will put some more of the hiding places on the substrate.

No, you have not meet my hamster yet. The reason is, we do not see him long enough to take pictures of him :ROFLMAO:☹️. But i will keep trying.
His name is "Hammy Puff". My eight year old boy named him :giggle:🥹. He is a purebred winter white with a pedigree👍

I love the name Hammy Puff 😍. I am looking forward to meeting him I’m sure it won’t be long before he is confident enough to come out x

Reassuring we haven't met Hammy Puff so i'm not senile just yet.

He'll surface when he's ready to meet his family and the rest of the world. I had a pedigree Winter White who took a while to make contact but she turned out to be a lovely and very friendly hamster.

In the meantime you could get a night vision camera and show your boy in the morning what Hammy Puff got up to while he was asleep.
