Condolences on your loss - it is always traumatic when they have to be put down I just had to euthanize my sweet boy Peanut due to a large malignant tumor. It is amazing how such little lives can leave such big holes in our hearts. Congrats on your new little dwarf companion, too!

Aw - do introduce him If it was Hamster polyomavirus, it is resistant to bleach as well - I'm sorry to convey that. But a dwarf hamster is unlikely to be susceptible to it. Fingers crossed.

Yes the vet told me it would only be passed around Syrians. I did some research and learned that it’s DNA specific so a dwarf cannot catch it from a Syrian

That's nice that you could adopt a new baby so quickly. All the hamsters are lovely for their own reasons, and maybe down the road, you'll have another Syrian when enough time has passed.
