Could we see the larger bottom one as well? :) It gives a better idea. I think that wheel in the top one might be too small for a robo. It would need to be at least 6" and ideally 8". It's hard to tell the size from the photo though :-) Does Muffin have another wheel in the main cage?

Yes it is a six inch wheel and the bottom I will soon attach I don't have my hamster yet but I will be getting her soon

I’m just wondering if it’s possible for you to get something longer for the bottom cage. If you’ve only just bought it, they might exchange it for you. Although robos are small they are very active and do still need plenty of space. A cage that is the width of the unit would be better (ie the unit the cage is on).

I know it’s difficult to find things. The bottom cage looks like the Ferplast favola which is about 60cm x 36cm.

I know there aren’t the same official guidelines for size in the US but generally something at least 80cm long is considered a good size, if not bigger. For the main cage.

If you’re getting the hamster soon, and can’t change the cage then it would be good to think about upgrading to something bigger as soon as you can 😊

It's a nice cage, but might be a bit small for a robo. They are small, but very fast and like to run around. They aren't that keen on climbing but do like to burrow and create complicated, Hidden burrows.

It's difficult if money is tight. Could you make a bin cage maybe? Robos really do like to dig!

It’s better if it says sand on the packet rather than dust but just check it’s not too dusty :-). A lot of people use desert sand now or repti sand (without calcium) which you can get in quite large bags so it lasts for ages.

You can also use children’s play sand but check it says sterilised on the packet.

Well it was mixed with volcanic ash but it says small animal bath sand.
