Tako already walked into my palm today for long period but he still doesnt want to be hold! Looks like he wanted to go out because he looked thru the window and went to the corner of the cage to searched an exit. However i still dont have the playpen yet and will setting it on next month. The playpen setting also take into consideration since he really a litte ninja with flexible body and can escape even its a small hole. I take his new chew toy to make him not bored.

You'll be doing well if he accepts a stroke on the back with one finger while he's out, or eats from your hand while he's out.

The cardboard box is around 70x50cm. Is there any minimum requirement for the playpen size? Thanks Maz, i will do that. Tako already get longer body right now and i wanted to scale his weight after tame him.

There isn't really a minimum size for a playpen. It might work. It depends how he reacts to being in the box. It's a way to have some out of cage time but some don't like it if the area isn't big enough. Maybe put some hides and tunnels in there. Cardboard tubes and a mug on its side are fine.

Yeah, i thought that the playpen should be more bigger than the cage. So i will make it later for him to play with

Today update, today really weird for me. I saw Tako ate and also drink well, but i see his acts really concern me. Today he looks so sleepy, is it normal? During this hours Tako mostly active on his wheel and however today Tako just fall asleep on his wheel and when i pat his head he seems relaxed and i heared like chirping sound once when i pat his head. Also whe i tend to wake him up, he do some streching. He walks so fine and also his judging from the beat of his body looks like his breath is normal. maybe someone have this kind experience, do this normal? Should i go to vet?

This photos was taken at 22.30 P.M i want to took a photo when he slept and make sure he really fall a sleep before, but i got a chill when i look into my camera and scared me he suddenly woke up and look right into my camera.
His routine start from around 20.00 - 21.00 P.M. however this day, he tend to have more sleep. Does this mean, if any sound can disturb his sleep behaviour?

It's still a change of environment for him even at 70 x 50 put some cardboard tubes and boxes in plus his wheel then it is like a playground I also include a sand bath in the playpen as well as the cage he will probably run around between and through the objects

They do sometimes have a bit of a nap during the evenings . And sometimes during the night as well. Out first Syrian was very zippy about 6 or 7 pm. Between 8.30 and 10 pm he was quite chilled and dopey and would sometimes go to sleep on my knee. Their personalities vary with things like that.

Such a cute little boy. My little girl did have some sleepy days, so if he is eating and drinking, I would see what he is like tomorrow and try not to worry too much.

If he is active and eating, pooping and urinating normally he should be OK. His poops should be firm and become dry and quite hard. His nose and eyes look clear. If his breathing sounds OK he should be alright.

Thanks a bunch Jain, yeah he really love his playpen right now. Even its not that big however he love to explore in there.

So this is my update for yesterday case. After a long observation in Tako's behaviour, the conclusion i can assume right now, whenever i pat his head gently during his nap, he will fall asleep for a while. As usual he played his wheel as usual and he asked for a taxi to went for his playpen and played in there from 00.30 A.M until 02.00 A.M. He is still agile as usual both inside or outside his cage, but there was a time delay for his usual activity yesterday. His breath, poo, urine, eating and drink still normal. No sneeze at all, just a little chirped when i pat him yesterday.

Im so sorry if i ask a lot questions, because Tako is my 2nd hamster and i commited to give Tako a good life thanks for all good people in here, always gives good advise for me to improve, im so glad to be here

He sounds great . Mine likes to be out between midnight and 2am as well - I don’t always manage that!

It’s so sweet he falls asleep when you pat his head and chirrups at you . He must feel very comfortable with you. He sounds adorable.
