hi y'all between a chinese dwarf and a syrian id there one or the other that might be better with my previous rusdian dwarf set up?

They both need a good amount of space, but perhaps slightly different setups, in that Chinese hamsters have a bit of a tail and are more natural climbers - a bit, but also extremely shy often and need plenty of covver and hideyl placses too. Syrians also need cover and hidey places but larger items potentially. but it the Syrian is female they often need a much larger amount of space.

I think you had recently bought your new perspex enclosure hadn't you? Any hamster items like houses or tunnels will be too small for a syrian (particularly any entrance holes). A wheel, it it is 8 to 9" would be ok for the Chinese but not the Syrian really.

So as you had a dwarf set up previously, some things, if disinfected, may be re-usable. I wouldn't advise getting a female syrian unless you plan to upgrade the cage to a larger one again, after a hamster has fully settled. Although your new perspex one was, I think, a bit under the guidelines, it was an option you found that was better than most and may be ok for some species, providing you can give them out of cage time regulary in a safe area like a playpen.
