This is Sydney the Syrian, I've only had him a month and a half. He was on gumtree as a two and a half years old hamster and it broke my heart so I went in a 50 minutes drive to get him. I have no idea how old he is but he was thin when I got him. I fed him up with proper food and soaked pellets to help him gain weight. He is very very nervous but seems to be settling in.

He is. I got him and then very quickly I was asked to take pudding too. So I went from 1 hamster to 3 hamsters in less than a week. 😆🙈#crazyhamsterlady

I nearly ended up in that situation last week! I was looking for a hamster and nearly ended up with three! Sydney is gorgeous. I'm so glad you got him and he's getting good care now.

Oh wow, that must have been quite a shock for you. Are Sydney and Pudding your first hamsters?

Sydney is such a lovely looking ham, it’s great to hear he now has a loving home with you.

Hi, No I first had a hamster when I was 15 (many many years ago) I've kept lots on and off but got into keeping them again about 6 years ago. I mainly took in people's unwanted pets or sick pets people had given up on. 3 is the most hamsters I've had at a time. I used to have 1 or 2 at a time. I enjoy taking in the sick or elderly hamsters, but sadly it means I end up with a lot of deaths. 😟that's the only downside.

You are such a kind and amazing person.

I think Wren the Robo had Wren the Robo before these :)
Yes I did. And Meep meep the dwarf hamster. I've had so many hamsters. I tend to take the ones nobody else wants. Just to add some of my hamsters don't or didn't have ”traditional recommended set ups” because of their special needs. Both hamsters I have now are going to be in plazas. Pudding is hopefully moving into hers tonight from the hamster heaven.

That is a lovely name - Meep meep! Yes it is very hard to have a lot of deaths but it is so good to take in older hamsters. It's really awful when you see these private ads of people wanting to sell hamsters in their old age. Maybe to avoid vet bills or extra care.

I think you're doing a great job. Some people who rescue, often do need a break with all the deaths, and to have one younger one as well.

That is such a cute name! The sound Road Runner makes in the cartoon
😊
Yes that's why she was called that. 😆she was a little roadrunner. She was supposed to be transferring to the hamster rescue however my husband suggested that she stayed. And I didn't take much convincing. 🤣

Yes. Well Wren was only supposed to be a year and a half old at the moment. However as her previous owner told the rescue she was 7 months old at surrender that's what they went on. However we suspect she was a lot older as she was ageing quickly. Her sister lark (owned by another lady) is aging too. So I suspect they've been older.

Sydney looks so cute, so glad you found him, you are doing such a great thing.

I asked after Pudding yesterday. I didn't want to leave Sydney out...
How is Sydney? 🐹💕

I am already in love with Sydney from his photo in the competition!
