I’ve had one for Raffy before and recently bought a pack of them from Getzoo. They were good quality and there were four in the pack of varying sizes. Both hamsters had one last night. Molly has had a really good go at hers and Raffy has had a bit of a go at his :-). It keeps them occupied getting the sunflower seeds out.

It makes me want to grow some sunflowers! My last attempt failed however.

I hadn’t come across these before until Rainbow got one.

I cannot give Sprite one as he sits there until every seed is gone. It would be okay if he pouched them and added them to his hoard but he eats them!

I think they look great in the cage but I wouldn’t use them as I know my hams would eat far too many sunflower seeds!

Sunflowers are actually really easy to grow, I have grown them but start them off indoors in pots & keep them protected until they’re a decent size or the slugs scoff the lot, maybe get Raffy to guard them!

That sounds like the way to do it - previously I’ve just put seeds in the garden but I think they probably get eaten as nothing grows. Tried twice now. They are supposed to be easy and for children! I am hopeless at growing things in pots.

Maybe I need to cover the seeded area outside.

Well both hamsters have annihilated the sunflower heads and removed every single seed. So definitely only a very occasional treat :)

Hopefully they have just hoarded them. I wonder if Raffy put any in his special larder. :)

I don't think sunflower seeds would go in the special larder :-) That seems to only be for nuts and cookies!
