Decided to order the rosewood sandbox mainly because being able to scratch and chew it it may encourage him to actually use it. I will most likely buy the storage jar for his playpen next visit to Asda. Going to write another post with regards to placing the rosewood box.

That sounds good. It can be tricky working these things out. I have a lovely large salt pig I got for a cage once and ended up not using it in the cage as it was too big and awkward to work in the set up - it's on a shelf now full of random bits and pieces!

One of my dwarfs had the Rosewood sandbox and loved it. I made a little cardboard roof in one corner and she often sat there washing and eating. I think its a great buy as well for a fiver.

I haven't had one but I have the carrot topped house which is very similar. It is great that they are cardboard as you can also cut it if necessary - I cut a bigger door in my house once. I like the simplicity of it and the natural aspect and I think a hamster would too. Being hay though it would need to go in the freezer for a week before using.
