Russian dwarf with half a closed eye

Hello and welcome - I’m sorry your hammy has a half closed eye. It would help to know how old he/she is. Older hamsters do sometimes get a sticky eye but looking at it, it’s possible she may have some infection - either pouch or tooth or eye infection. So really you would need a vet to look at it if it’s like that each day. If it just disappears overnight and goes back to normal then it may just be a sticky eye. It does look a bit like there’s some swelling at that side though so she may need antibiotics. It looks a bit more swollen than just a sticky eye.

She is about 1 just over. Only noticed the other day. She keeps rubbing it with her paw / foot trying to clean it?

I think it probably is some kind of infection and she might need antibiotics - it would be best to take her to a vet. Do you have a vet? If not then google exotic vets in your region - they know more about hamsters. Eyes are quite important things and if there's some kind of abscess it could cause more issues with her eye so best to get it looked at :-)

If she is rubbing at it, it is probably causing her discomfort. The only way to treat it is with medication prescribed by the vet. It is important that a vet treats her as he can provide an accurate diagnosis and the right medication. Trying to use an unsuitable medication could cause more harm to her eye. Good luck, I hope she gets better soon, she is a beautiful little hammy ❤️
