I never thought I’d own a cat — never really liked them after bad experiences in my youth — but my wife really wanted one, and she’s done so much for me I decided we should go ahead. We adopted Poppy from a PetSmart SPCA event last month, and now I’d fight anything for her.

At first, she was too little to bother our two hamsters and two gerbils, but now she’s able to jump on top of their Bucatstate enclosures. We shoo her off, of course, although the rodents aren’t intimidated at all.

She’s lovely. It would be best if you could keep her away from the cages as just the smell of a predator can scare hamsters a bit. I’m sure they do get used to other animal smells in the house but the main thing is that the hamsters can’t be “pestered “.

Princess Poppy is a lovely name.
