Tino will be getting a new cage fairly soon - maybe not for 3 to 4 weeks while I get fit (and organised!). But as mentioned previously I sent for some nice enrichment type things from Hamsters We Love. They have now arrived and are in the freezer :) Just to add some photos (and a video) to show what arrived. The large sunflower heads are great - unfortunately they both seem to have broken in half during transit, but then they are quite large, so that's not such a bad thing as it means I have four sunflower heads instead of two basically! To put out at different times. Because usually, Syrian hamsters seem to demolish one all in one go, so giving them half at a time is not a bad idea!

There were too many photos to add in one post, so I've put the photos of all the contents in a video. Below is the box as it arrived, the sunflower heads, and a couple of freebies were included :-) Some snack treat mix, a scoop and some hamster stickers.

I was pleased all the items seemed good quality as well as some of my recent Rosewood PicknFly packs have been a bit ropey! It can vary.

Tino won't want to go out of his cage now with all these lovely things! 😉

Well that is maybe a concern yes! But I think once he's settled he might. He is not like Raffy who wants to be out A LOT! He's more like other male syrians I've had who perhaps want to come out a couple of times a week, but it's getting them into a routine perhaps.

Raffy is definitely a Ninja adept and has been passing his ways to Tino in ultrasound 😄 Tino has found a wonderful home!

Amazing haul!!! So many Great hamster businesses to try out ! ❤️

Yes there are quite a few now - like little cottage industries. It can get a bit expensive buying things for new cages - thank goodness for pringles tubes!

Oh yes 😅 buying stuff for new cages is super expensive- my wallet is dead after George hahah, but it’s all worth it for him! If I ever wanted to get another hamster is something id consider more in the future 😅😅😅

My mums workplace has these long tubes at work that are very wide fit for a Syrian and she like grabbed a few for him so I’m grateful for that!!!

Good for his free roam time!

Those are great tubes :) I don't think it's as bad the second tjme when you already have a cage and a lot of items anyway that can be re used.

Oh yes! I mean like, 2 hamsters at once (separate cages of course) for now I want to stick to one hamster only but in the future I do wish to adopt or foster hamsters when my hamster care progresses ❤️

Still not quite ready to set Tino's new cage up :) There is a bit of a surprise with that as well, when I get the last few bits and pieces together. For now I'll just say it's a 120cm cage. Waiting for a platform and some more bedding at the moment.

I’ve just got round to unboxing the bamboo root I got from Hope’s Healthy treats. It’s not quite as big as I was expecting and looks a bit like a crab 😂. There is the odd sharp nib on it so I’ll need to check it over carefully - and also a splintery area - didn’t expect to sand a bamboo root!

What a weird and wonderful thing it is. Almost prehistoric looking.

It is certainly a weird and wonderful shape :ROFLMAO: I imagined I was going to get something that looked like this

I wonder what Tino will make of it will he jump over it or try to run up and down it who knows 😀

It's slow progress getting all this organised. Things keep interrupting me! Like car tyres.

It's quite spooky!

So I gave up on the Bamboo root. There were so many sharp bits and if I sanded the whole thing I'd have wrecked it. I ended up binning it. I should have sent it back really but I'd already tried sanding one area. I think I got a bad one! So that was a waste of money! I think I have enough things for the cage without it.

At the moment the cage is still on the coffee table in the middle of the living room! I had planned to get it done on Tuesday, and fully ready by Wednesday - but life had other things in store for me last week! As a result it's stuck in the middle of the living room. Should get time to do it in the next couple of days though. At the moment only one person can see the TV on one end of the sofa :ROFLMAO: . Good job I'm not bothered about watching TV when it's light nights.

I hope you get an opportunity to set up Tino's home. Looking forward to seeing him in it. Sorry to hear about the bamboo root. It is rather an awkward thing, think I would have chucked it too!
