I got some poppy seeds from tesco, is Teddy OK to have a little? I'm assuming it's safe as he's had poppy sprays before but I can't seem to find anything definite other than it's more common to feed them in Germany :)
(I also got him flax seeds and chai seeds)

Poppy seeds are fine to feed them, not something I’d give a lot of but they are safe.

They are included in some hamster mixes which would be a minimal amount. Personally I wouldn't feed them on their own as a treat. Flax seeds are good. I believe there is some thought that too many Chia seeds can be an issue.

Chia seeds do absorb an awful lot of water, far more than flax seeds do so they swell a lot, I think that’s the issue with them, personally I don’t feed them but I think some people do.

Yes I give flax, chia and poppy seeds alternated daily with other types of seeds in minute amounts ( a really teeny pinch) of each scattered along Petes shelves he loves to hoover them up plus the odd pine nut, tiny piece of walnut, pumpkin seed popped into his hides it's like a treasure hunt for him.

Thankyou :) I mixed the 3 together and decided on just the tiniest pinch as something different for him to hunt for- whether he actually ate them or not I'm not sure as they're sooo tiny they seem to vanish into their hiding spots 😅
