Hi!!
I noticed for the last 2 months Pancake (hybrid dwarf) has been squeaking randomly. it’s short squeaks but he does it often. He just did it again now and i ran over to check and see what he’s doing but she was simply lying down in his hide? I’ve googled this numerous times but i still don’t get what it means. Could it just be a sign of happiness and comfort or opposite?

It could be a number of things, perhaps a problem with teeth, something stuck in his cheek pouch, ear ache, behavioural, etc.The best thing is for a vet to have a good look and feel for any problems. It's great that you are observant and have picked up on this. Is he eating and drinking normally?

Some of my Russian hybrids have been very vocal & made quite a lot of various noises, mostly when in their nests, if nothing else appears to be wrong, health checks are ok, eating drinking etc or normal & no obvious changes in behaviour then that’s probably all it is, a vocal ham.

Is he awake when he’s squeaking?

that’s what i’m thinking, because he’s eating and drinking from his bowl. it’s usually when he’s in his little hides that he’ll make noise.

yeah, he is!!

That's good! It's good to weigh them if you can (before they fill their cheek pouches). It all builds up a health profile.

If he's awake he's probably ok :-)
