Hello!

I've just been over the list of available mixes on the forum. I ordered the Hazel Hamster mix off of amazon as I can't seem to find it in Canada at the pet stores I've tried here at least. It should be here on Jan 23 and It was $22 for two pounds which is probably more expensive than it would be in the store but that's a manageable price for my one hamster. I'm pretty sure this is the same as the Harry Hamster available in the UK? The packaging looks the same. He's on a food that came with him when I bought him from another family and he eats but doesn't eat quite a bit of the pieces like the pellets so it's a waste and I heard that most of the hamsters love this mix and there isn't much waste. I'm supplementing with veggies and fruits right now too! He's a good boy and eats well, poops and pees in his sandbox and isn't any trouble at all!

Just to let you know, it is helpful to freeze it for one week when it arrives. This is to ensure any bugs are killed. You can just take a bit out and put it in an airtight container and store the rest in the freezer until you need it.

I am sure he is going to enjoy his new food.😊

Oh perfect! That would help to keep it from going off as well! Good idea thank you!

Yes, Hazel Hamster food mix is the same as Harry Hamster here in the U.K.

Yes I checked this out once with the manufacturers and Harry and Hazel are identical in terms of content - Hazel is the US version due to different labelling law requirements and different ways of working an analysts.

Some people say it doesn’t have that much variety but I think it’s fine :). It’s a good mix that covers the basics, is sugar free (which many aren’t) and contains enough protein. Although a few protein treat extras wouldn’t go amiss (eg the occasional nut which they love).
