I think this was part of the Guiness book of records 
We have had a four year old hamster on here. I haven't heard of any living much longer than that really. Occasionally I've seen someone claim their hamster is 5 years old but it makes you wonder if it is a mistake.

Huh. Interesting. Yes I found this on the Guiness World Record site. Still, some people won't know it, & it really is a cool fact! Originally when I was looking it up I thought they would be like six years old or something. But they proved me wrong.
