So I've already started to try and get some things organised by Christmas. Realistically, I know you need to start in September! Which I did - but already it is 5th November. Which means it all gets Christmassy in about 3 weeks time! And time goes whoosh.

Some years ago I used to be really organised .................I do quite a lot of Christmas cards, as friends and family all live all over the place and some in different countries. So I would start writing Christmas cards about now - a few each week-end - with letters and updates - and have them all done by the end of November and in the post by 1st December. It was a good routine as meant life was more relaxed from 1st December onwards, to concentrate on other things.

Somehow that routine doesn't happen any more! Although I usually manage to get them in the post early December.

So in addition to the usual things before Christmas and planning food orders and gifts etc (which I haven't even started on yet this year). I wanted to have the house organised by then. This may or may not happen! After a big rearrangement of rooms this summer and shifting furniture out of one room. The other rooms need reorganising to fit things in and make some space.

Currently I'm bit by bit, going through a small bedroom upstairs, re-organising things, having a bit of a clear out - ready to move other things up into that room to clear some space downstairs (if it sounds complicated, it is!).

It was nice plodding away at it slowly a bit at a time when I had time - and now I realise time is going faster than I am achieving results ..............

So does anyone else feel this impending craziness approaching as we head towards the end of November? Black Friday the last week in November usually (I tend to ignore it mostly but watch out for sales on hamster cages). Advent calendars shortly afterwards (must get an advent calendar ordered).

At least I have bought the Christmas cards!

I ignore black friday & pretty much ignore Christmas! Humbug!

My birthday is right at the end of November, and since the pandemic, I have got into the habit of putting up my Christmas tree for my birthday so it’s all pretty and sparkly. This year will be no different, although I will have to move Blossom as she is currently occupying the only space there is for the Christmas tree. I bought some gifts at art fairs over the summer, so only a few left to get, and I bought cards, wrapping paper, crackers etc in the January sales, so am mostly good to go 😁🎄

Organised! That is a lovely thing to put the Christmas tree up on your birthday. We’ve often been later than most with the tree as usually get a real one- and put it up later so it lasts longer. Up to 4th Jan time - without dropping needles too much. But most people seem to have them up by 1st December.
I keep thinking it will be easier to get a fake one but can never find one I like online snd some are ridiculously expensive!

We actually still have last year’s tree in a pot outside though. The idea was to plant it out and dig it up again and re pot it. But didn’t get round to it. So it’s still in the old pot and not looking too great!

Feeling it! I've gotten some gift ordering out of the way but still need to get Christmas cards, and of course some gifts. My house is a disaster right now, so I'm hoping that during Thanksgiving week (here in the U.S.) I can clean up a bit when my in-laws come in and also as we transition decorations from autumn to Christmas.

It’s a pressure isn’t it - thinking you’ve got to get everything cleaned up to a deadline. I was having a blitz on that until half term then put things off till after half term and now I’m a bit grounded with a painful condition - so I’m resigned to just not cleaning the house up before Christmas!
