I’m ridiculously excited about this but - new legs on the sofa. Due to my bad knees it’s easier to sit on chairs and sofas that are a bit higher up - our two sofas were very low. Got rid of one of them to have two chairs instead. And thought we’d have to replace the other one with a higher one. I liked the ones I’d seen that were higher up with wood legs. Then I thought - I wonder if you can buy wood legs on their own. You can and I found some on Amazon which have now raised our old sofa - and it actually looks better than before lol. It was far too low. It’s very worn so that’s not actually dirt on the photo - it’s just the threadbare bits. But it’s still very comfy.

It wouldn’t have worked with the big sofa as that wouldn’t have been stable enough and wanted to get chairs with arms anyway.

This is great, what a fab idea! The legs really suit it 😃

They’re nice aren’t they 😊. Just like the ones on the new Parker Knoll sofas. It did mean drilling a bigger hole to fit a plate into and the legs then screwed into that.

What a lucky thought by you Maz to search and see if sofa legs were available.
It’s a great idea and the sofa has new life without the huge expense of a new one or even a secondhand one.

Yes had been looking and looking and when I googled “turned sofa legs” these came up and there were a lot of Amazon reviews showing they had used them on their sofas - I also like the fact it’s easier to hoover underneath now 😊 Or find a hamster underneath ha ha.

I have to put throws on my sofas that come down to the floor. They then get tucked under the sofa a bit to stop Rusty poodle's toys getting under there!

This one needs a throw over it now anyway as it’s so threadbare in places. The arms were actually threadbare when we bought it about 7 years ago from the British heart foundation. I did get some arm covers but they kept falling off! It is just such a well made comfy sofa that I’d rather keep the devil we know 😊

You'll have to excuse the carpet on those photos. It is very old and the odd bald patch which usually has a rug over. It's difficult to find a replacement carpet though as the floor underneath is stone flags with no damp course. And the carpet is 100% wool with a wool underlay which allows the floor to breathe so there's no damp. It was a very good wool carpet when new! Trying to replace it with a new equivalent would cost a small fortune. Will probably just get more rugs to put on top of it. Country living isn't as glamorous as it looks sometimes lol.

You would never guess the legs were not on it originally and it does look comfy 👍🙂

It's a lovely, generous sofa. Your wool carpet is miles better than an acrylic one. Damp free is good for breathing too.

It’s a very comfortable sofa. It seems even more comfortable now it’s higher up somehow - you can flump down on the cushions more easily. Most of the carpet is quite good - just those couple of bald bits ha ha. They were where something was sat on the floor - the carpet can’t handle no ventilation so it just rots - it can handle a sofa or coffee table on the floor but nothing solid. It’s dry as a bone - unless you leave something solid standing on part of it. It’s in very good condition otherwise. Anyway the whole house is a bit of a renovation project.
