I'm adopting a little female dwarf hamster from Happy Hamsters fairly soon but will post more about it when everything is underway :)

That’s great news! I’m really pleased for you & I’m sure you’re going love having a little Russian, a whole new ham experience!

Thanks both :)

That’s so exciting Maz. That little hamster is going to be a lucky little guy❤️

Thanks McKyen :-) It's a little girl this time :)

Super exciting Maz, look forward to hearing more about her. Have fun arranging your new set up 😊

Thank you Zara. Part fun part head scratching perhaps! I do find it a fiddle sometimes, but it usually comes together :)

This is excellent news Maz. Your set up will be as thoughtful as always so the little one will have a wonderful home with you.

Looking forward to hearing all the details and photos of your new girl is she your first dwafie

Thank you Jain :-). Yes she is. I’ve mainly had Syrians and a couple of robos.

I'm in the process of getting organised to set the cage up. I'm waiting for a few things to arrive in the next day or two that need to go in the freezer for a week (sprays eg). Although I do have some sprays already so could always add the others later. Otherwise I have most things. Once the set up is done Happy Hamsters like to see a photo to check everything is ok. So I'll update as I got along. But waiting for a wheel at the moment.

I've ended up buying a few new things as didn't want to re-use recently used things. In time I will re-use them though.

I find it really frustrating having to wait for things to arrive & freeze when I’m wanting to set everything up!
Which wheel are you getting?
I have so much hamster stuff but always seem to end up buying some new things for each hamster somehow too.
I wouldn’t put too many sprays in the cage, you might be surprised at how quickly they can get eaten so you have to ration them a bit.

Good point. The wheel is a surprise at the moment :) I have plenty of Syrian stuff but not much dwarf stuff. Hence having to buy the odd new thing. And I'm trying to keep the diy to a minimum this time.

Ok so I've decided to get the 9" Silent Runner to attach to the bars - and it'll allow for more bedding. I did think about a bigger one but the 9" one is fine for a dwarf.

I’ve used the 9” with mine & my Chinese which are quite a bit longer than a Russian & they’re fine.

This is very exciting news Maz. I can't wait to see some photos and video of her.

Albert: I hope you're ready for the Russian Dwarf experience 🐹😉

It is isnt it :) Patience is needed for about a week though - I have plenty to get organised meanwhile.

Cage is coming along. I needed to send photos to the rescue before the adoption can take place :) And the cork log fits where I wanted it to - over the sand bath. Some things might need tweaking a bit. Everything is on legs or platforms and the wheel is screwed to the bars where there's a gap in the perspex. Sorry it's a bit dark! It's getting dark here now. The little shelter on the left is to give the water bowl a roof.

That looks really lovely, the cork tunnel works really well.
Lots of nice little hidey places, I’m sure she’s going to love that.
How high is the top shelf on the left? It’s not always easy to tell from photos but it looks fairly high, I can’t really see well, a bridge up toward the back?
Just wondering as they are quite good at falling off things.
Or it might be me not seeing well!
