Names and nameys

Hey all,

I wonder if other people do what we do with their hamsters name.. we spend ages picking out a nice name for our hammy, then over time our hammy gets a whole bunch of nicknames

Currently we have Winnie, but I also call her Winnie poo, Winnie Winnie woo woo and Wubs

Here she is enjoying a hammy safe ice cream treat from pets at home.

Haha Yes absolutely, now I think about it we used the real for our hammy pretty rarely. I used to go with Little Hamster, Little Fluffball, or if she was in a bit of a grumpy mood, Bitey. My better half used to call her things like Gorgeous Girl, or Beautiful Girl...ect
The first picture of Winnie is lovely, who is that in the second picture having a nice nap?

Oh I like little fluff ball, what a cute nickname

Ah that's Mylo. He was my first boy. His nicknames were Mylos, Mylicus and 'the boy' we lost him earlier in the year at 2.5 and Winnie is our new hammy.

I was planning to post about them both but then I realised my bus stop was coming up so I had to rush and didn't realise I still had Mylo's pic

A great thread Hammie-O, and a gorgeous photo of Winnie. They are fun treats those ice cream cones - mine especially like the top ball part!

Yes ours have ended up having "pet names" or nicknames - even the ones that had easy to say names to start with. It's an affectionate thing isn't it?

Our first hamster Charlie was mainly Charlie or "little boy".

Second Syrian had lots of names! His official name was Newton AKA Newtus Hamsterus, AKA Newt. But he'd usually be called Newtie Pootie

We had Nugget at the same time (Robo) - who'd get called Nuggety Wuggety

Then Pickle (Syrian) who got called Ickle Pickle

Moo (older Syrian I adopted) got calleed Moo-Moo

Pip (Robo ) was short for Pipkin but I'd call him toodle-pip

Raffy (Syrian) was short for Raphael, and Raffy was an easy name to say but I'd usually end up calling him Raffykins or Raff monster!

Current Hamsters (Syrians) are Tino and Higgins. Tino just gets called Tino or beautiful boy. Higgins gets called Higgy or Higgy baby.

I'm so sorry about Mylo - he was a grand age and we miss them - I'm glad you have Winnie now.

Hey Kaz, what a beautiful collection of names & pet names

& Thank you, I couldn't be without a Hammy now after Mylo. The best things come in small packages.
