My Beautiful Little Hammy

Yes I do. After she died I spent a good 2 hours cleaning it. It helped take my mind off it a bit. This new one loves her wheel already.

It's great she loves her wheel already - she is probably still a baby. They get so excited when they first discover the wheel :)

RIP Hammy and welcome to new Hammy. She looks beautiful. I had a lovely brown hamster in 2015 called Kashi. She had the same white line down her front and white paws. She was very very keen on chewing. I use to weave cardboard round the bars of her cage and give her egg boxes with food hidden inside.

Look forward to many more pics of your new companion.

Thank you. Even though I have a new companion now, I've been crying on and off all day since she died in my arms. It was the way I wanted to be with her in her last moments. But I wasn't prepared for how much it was going to affect me.

Understandable. Big emotions often take a white to really sink in I find.

I have often got a new pet as soon as I lose one but in the case of my recent loss (fluffy syrian called Kulfi) I seemed to need a fair bit of time to recover. He died of cancer so it was a bit of a sad way to go.

Glad that Hammy died in your arms, hopefully giving her comfort in her final moments.

I'm glad you have your lovely bright new Hammy to comfort you and make you smile. It is still possible to grieve and smile at the same time. Your first Hammy was special and loved and she knew that.

i think she is a bit overwhelmed at the moment, with the amount of stuff she has in her cage, compared to what she had when i got her

She will be :-) She will need the usual 2 or 3 days to adjust to her new environment and work everything out - without any changes during that time, and it can take up to two weeks before they are fully adjusted and starting to look confident and happy in the cage - and then that is a joy to see,

I would suggest you start a new thread for new Hammy :) In the Syrian section so we can all follow her progress, and keep this thread for your first Hammy.
