Hello, I'm visiting my family and we got my sister a hammy but I noticed that his eyes look a bit off. It seems like they will pop out. I'm trying to find a vet for him now but is this something we need to worry about? I am attaching photos of him held in different ways.

Yes they do look to be protruding and yes the hammy does need to see a vet - it could be painful as well. It can happen if the hamster has been squeezed too hard at some point. Or there could be some other cause.

My sister is a teenager and is very gentle with the hammy and I'm the only other person who has had access to him so I don't think he has been squeezed but the lady we got him from did have kids around the hamsters so it could've happened then... I'm taking him to the vet first thing tomorrow, thank you a lot. I really hope it isn't something serious

Yes that's what I meant - it may have happened before your sister got her. There are other things that can cause it. I hope it isn't something serious as well but hopefully the vet will help.

Hey Maz! Thank you for your advice, I took him to the vet and all is well. Thank you so much :)

That's good to hear. So was the eye bulging just a temporary thing then?

Yeah, the doc said everything was fine, thankfully. He said it could be bc of the way we held him
