Sookie

Hi everyone!

This is Sookie, she is a grey and white Syrian hamster between 7-9 weeks old. I’ve had her for 1 week now and she seems settled in her new cage (bucatstate 100x50).

She is a sweet girl and I want to ensure her cage has as much enrichment as she needs.
I have ordered some substrates and sprays for her cage and was looking for advice on freezing them, as I know some people do this before putting them in their hamsters cages?

If anyone could also give any taming/handling tips that would also be appreciated!

Sookie 🥰 is gorgeous! Lovely photos! My hamster doesn't eat sprays, so I'm not sure how long to freeze them, but it is a good precaution as quite a few people have had problems with moths and insect larvae.
Food is a good way of getting to know your hammy. Often Syrians will be keen to pouch food for their hoard and will allow to their carer to feed them supplies, sometimes taking things like pumpkin seeds into the larder one by one and then rushing back for more.

I freeze the sprays for a week, I think that is usual.
There are good articles on the forum for taming
