Oreo arrived earlier today!

He came from a rescue (handed in because kids lost interest 🥺 otherwise he was well looked after apparently ❤️) and was a favourite of his foster! He is a Syrian, 11 months old.

Obviously at the moment he is still settling in and super shy! But I am told he is very friendly and loves to come out of his cage for attention and playtime 🥰

I’m leaving him be for a bit (a couple of days?) but I had a little peek when I heard him rustling around just now!

He’s almost the same colour and markings as my last Syrian (Biscuit, in my profile pic! I lost him a few years ago and was too sad at the time to get another 🥺)

Oh - and introducing me!

I’m returning to hamster keeping after a break, i unfortunately suffered a TBI after a riding fall in January and had to give up, I still have my 21yo arab and my daughter’s outgrown pony, but had to sell my younger riding horse 😭 I have been missing her and my horsey lifestyle so much, I can’t do much of anything anymore, I’m mostly at home, so I decided to get a little hamster companion again to throw my interests into 🥰

Welcome Oreo! He is beautiful. I love his little head poking out there.

I am so sorry to hear of your accident and that you cannot ride any more. Oreo will be a lovely companion for you.

Hello Oreo!
What a sweet little face peering out there, he really does look adorable 😍
I’m really sorry to hear about your accident too, you’ve had some major life changes to adjust to, it sounds as though you & little Oreo were just meant for each other.
Looking forward to seeing more of him when he’s settled in.

Hi Oreo, he looks so cute peeking up from the substrate. Look forward to hearing how he settles in, his enclosure looks fabulous, I’m sure he’s going to like his new home very much.

Sorry to hear about your accident and having to sell one of your horses, this must’ve been a very difficult time. Hope you’re feeling much better now.

He is beautiful and very sweet looking. I'm so glad you got him. Hamsters are wonderful pets and I think can understand our emotions at times too.

He’s been out exploring - up on our amended shelf no less! 🤩🤩

He seems to have been enjoying gathering lots of food for his new store 🥰 He took a pea flake from my hand 🥹

Ooh he's even looking at you near the door! He seems quite tame then.

He is gorgeous! So glad you got him. He looks very interested in you.

So sorry to hear about your riding accident.

Lovely photos, he really is a handsome little man & looks so cute looking up at you there, he seems to be settling right in straight away which is lovely.

Hello Oreo, it's lovely to see you in your new forever home 🏡💖 You are very handsome ❤️

So sorry to hear about your accident and having to sell your horse. I'm sure you and Oreo will become great friends 💕

What a cute little face he has 😍

Oreo is a lovely looking boy and should settle in quickly with you.

Sorry about your riding accident and the consequences.

A Riding Accident made my sister quit riding in Equestrian Events. Broke her collarbone. She still has the horses because her husband rides. She switched to competing in National Agility Events with her Welsh Corgis.

Oreo is a little teddy bear.
