Today after not seeing h for 2 full day's he came to his cage door at the sound of my voice and literally let me scoop him into my hands then shut his eyes and dozed off he woke up in a few minutes and had a wash n brush up in my hands now he's fully awake and playing in his playpen he's like a different character

Aw he's so cute :-) Lovely you got to hold him again.

Yes he is really quite tame now but only on his terms I was starting to think he was going to be totally nocturnal then he surprises me 🙂

What lovely photos! Pete looks so comfortable with you now. You are very lucky to have a dwarfie who is so tame and bonded with his human mum so quickly.

Yes, things happen on their terms and that's the way it is with hamsters. I think that it saves on a lot of frustration and possibly disappointment when we learn to accept that.

I remember spending hours sitting by my first hamster's cage waiting for him to get up so i could interact with him but eventually the penny dropped and i realized that i could not influence his behaviour. It had to come from the hamster.

In my own experience, not many hamsters sit in their human's hands grooming looking relaxed like your lovely Pete. Most try to get away. Pete is quite a special little hamster.

Lovely photos, he does look very comfy there, it’s great that he’s happily sitting there having a wash & brush up.
Things are always on their terms!

I think the reason he is so content to groom himself in my hands (when he feels like it of course) is because from being very young hamster man's teenage daughter took him out of his cage every single day as soon as she got home from school I pre ordered him and waited till he was old enough for me to bring him home. The move definitely disrupted him but not for long also he allows my sister in law to handle him he will take mealworms from my o/h also my granddaughter and sit eating them while their hand is next to him all this took around 3 n half weeks in his new home he never shows any sign of fear he does have some hamster traits of course like going to ground and not appearing occasionally but on the whole he is extremely adaptable.

These are great photos, he's adorable. How lovely that you are able to handle him and he's so comfortable. He clearly enjoys the interaction and contact, so cute 😊. I get around 20 secs and then he's off 😆

Yes he's a cute little munchkin fortunately he's not skittish he does a lot of exploring but never seems to be in a rush
