She's very beautiful!
I love her to bits, she doesn't like being picked up much but allows strokes and pets and will gently take food from you. We must respect she hates being picked up lol

Does she like going out into a play pen, perhaps by taxi (being carried in a tube or hidey)?

She's gorgeous - it looks like she wants to come out :-) The handling might improve in time - they get more mellow.

So this is where I am lost, 2 play pens she's bit her way through and escaped, 1 occasion in front of me, the second I was in the loo and just saw something dart across the room. I was literally 1 minute lol

She is so beautiful, why don't you buy her a new play pen? She deserves it ❤️ Of course, no play pen can withstand rodent teeth for long, but the Songmics pen is good. If you need a pen that can be quickly put up, and quickly folded up to store flat, the Omlet hamster play pen is very popular and lots of people on here have been getting one. It's quite rugged too. Maz has the Omlet play pen, I think, and likes it. It's under £100 and folds into a bag in seconds for storage 🐾

Yes, Maz has the Omlet playpen and can give you full info. It must be good as her pen gets lots of use by two very lively hamsters ❤️

I LOVE the Omlet playpen - it's brilliant. It folds up and down in seconds and very easy to store (and has it's own nice bag to store it in). You can put it in various shape combinations as well - it doesn't have to be long and oblong. Sometimes I have it almost round. At the moment I have one long side up against the sofa and three Octagonal shaped (sort of) sides. So it's more of a semi circle - that's so I can have one of them on the sofa and if the hamster jumps off they can't escape as they land in the playpen :)

The downside to it is the cost - it's quite expensive. About £70. The Songmix one is much cheaper and also very good - but not as easy to put up and down and might be better if you have space to put it up permanently.

Or you can just hamsterproof a section of a room? Or even bathtub time. Or some people use a hallway and close all the doors (you might need to block off the stairs though - either at the top or the bottom). I think she really wants out!

Out of cage time is also an opportunity to get her used to being handled a bit. Even if she is never one to sit for a stroke, at least you can train her a bit so she will get used to walking into a tube or being picked up, if she runs off.

I don't use the floor with the playpen - it's much quicker to put up without it.

I use a spare cage as a playpen. In the past I have used a large plastic storage box. It is just so enriching for them to have a change of scenery and they soon get to love getting into their taxis.

Female hamsters are definitely more whole hearted when it comes to escaping ime.

Agree they definitely need out of cage time and seem to enjoy it too. I forgot to add that Omlet have 10% off most of the time, which helps a bit.

Such a cute video of Luna, she’s gorgeous 😊

Thanks for the advice but don't get me wrong - I do let her run around in the hall way a lot, shut all doors, block exits off and she runs up and down for a bit lol.

I'll find the video I took 2 months ago of her taking off at 100MPH across the living room haha

I also heard that putting a hamster in the bath with hides and treats is a good time to run around? Or was this false?

Aw that's great she loves running around and free roaming :-) I tend to do bathtub time for hand taming at first. If she's used to running around and free roaming, she might not like the bathtub, but you could try it :-) Some info about that in this taming article.
