Hello and welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You are welcome to wrote a tribute to Hammy in the rainbow bridge thread.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Please feel free to share your happy memories with Hammy if you like. It can be difficult or too upsetting to talk about our rainbow hamsters though. Do whatever feels right for you but remember one thing, people on here understand how you feel.

Hello & welcome to the forum.

That is a lovely photo, you must have many happy memories of your time together but I know how hard the loss is & we never stop missing them, Hammy lives on in your heart.

Hi my online name is hamsterluvr63 and by my username you can probably tell that I LOVE HAMSTERS! I have had a hamster in recent years and he died living a happy life. I got him from a family trying to rehome their hamster his original name was Wilbur but I didn't like that name so I called him Hammy. He died two years ago on October first 2021. He lived two years with his old family and one year with mine. He was possibly the sweetest and chubbiest little winter white dwarf. He almost never bit anyone and loved to play on his wheel and I was devastated when he died. We decorated his "coffin" which was a box and placed him and his favorite things in it and buried him in our side yard. I am happy to say I will be getting a robo dwarf hamster on Christmas or the first week of December.

Hello & welcome to the forum 😊
Sorry to hear about the loss of your hamster, it does sound as though he had a good long life with you.
Look forward to hearing all about it when you get your new robo.

I've merged your post with your original introductory post, as an update :) Also looking forward to hearing about your new robo. Don't hesitate to ask anything if you need any info on what cage to use or how to set it up.

It sounds like you've found a hamster now :) Look forward to meeting your robo. They are very fast little things and need a lot of space. I'm sure you've got everything organised - a tank style cage is probably best or a barred cage that isn't too tall and has narrow bar spacing.

Hi Maz! Actually I am getting a winter white hamster and I am using a cage from when I had my last hamster. I cleaned it out with water and dawn soap. Sadly, the cage is a Furplast wire and plastic cage. Victoria Raechel in one of her videos said it was about 398 square inches of floor space and I got a bigger wheel for the enclosure.

Is it possible to get a bigger cage? I would wait until you can get a bigger cage before you get your hamster because sadly this cage is too small for a hamster. :(

Oops sorry - I misread! The cage is a bit small. Are you in the Uk or US I can't remember.

Yeah, I know its small. sadly, my family is on a budget and that's the only cage I have and we dont have enough supplies to make a bin cage and we are starting to save money.

There is no rush to get a hamster. :) You can wait until you have the money saved. Hamsters can be very expensive especially if they need a vet visit. I understand how exciting it is to get a hamster but if you wait until you can afford a bigger cage your hamster will be so happy. :)

thank you! i am getting her for christmas!

Just wondering if you could make a bin cage. There are some lovely big bins in the US (we don't have many in the Uk). I think they are quite cheap as well. I think there is a 160 litre one at home depot that some people use. It would mean cutting the lid out, just leaving the rim, and adding mesh to the top for ventilation.
