This is a very short review of this book because I can't find it! But it is one of the best books about Hamsters there is. It is very detailed and a great resource for some medical issues and understanding of hamster anatomy plus information on breeding specifics. It may be a little bit dated in places but generally it is spot on in terms of care and health. I believe the authors are a vet and two breeders. It's also a very interesting read - quite technical in places (perhaps the vet input).

It's only actually available second hand now (must try and find my copy!)

I have this book.
Most parts are excellent but the part on Housing isn't just a little bit outdated, it is as bad as pet shops.

Yes it is quite an old book and vets and breeders probably had very outdated ideas about housing back then. Can’t comment though as can’t find my copy! I do remember it being quite medically detailed in places and helpful (if a bit clinical) in that way. It’s about the only book on hamsters geared for adults though I think.

It is a good reference book but i wished they'd print an updated version.

It would be nice to have a good book that was up to date on care, I remember when I first read it years ago I really enjoyed it & found it very informative but even then the info on housing seemed very dated.
