Hmm, I'm not sure. I didn't bother to look into it but I should really raise it as an issue with Amazon. I have been quite busy, but I should ask for clarification.

I haven’t but Hamster Helper has a good mix I sent for to try - it’s all hand mixed in batches - all ingredients are pre frozen and it doesn’t contain lentils - so I liked the sound of it. Haven’t tried it out yet.Has anyone ever used the "Hamster mixologist" food on etsy? I was looking at the hammykins food and this seems similar and looks nice quality.
Bit of a spoiler but I'm hopefully collecting a syrian hamster tomorrow so I've been browsing good quality Syrian mixes to transition them onto, that also sell dwarf mixes, Lavender is on the bunny nature stuff at the moment but the syrian version seems hit and miss for availability and I'd prefer they were both on food from the same place, the gerbils Basil and Rocket also get a decent amount of the dwarf hamster food in their mix/rotation, according to gerbil sites it's basically the same thing but cheaper and easier to get hold of vs the gerbil specific mix and having compared both sets of ingredients, there really isn't much difference at all, if any.

Complete Syrian Hamster Food
Big flavour. Big nutrition. Big cheeks! This isn’t your average pet shop food. It’s a lovingly balanced mix, handmade in small, weighted batches to ensure consistent nutritional values every time.hamsterhelper.co.uk
Exciting you’re getting a Syrian. Male or female?
Go with your heartActually no - don’t - because then you’ll get all three

Hi,I freeze it just incase ,it's fresh veggies ,so always a chance. Personally I would also just switch her straight over, there isn't too much in harry hamster for it to be a shock.to.her system. I also give mine some science selective on the side . Hope this helps.I’ve just ordered some Hammykins Syrian as I’ve heard lots of good things about it on another platform. I Probably should have got the smaller size to try first but just went for it to try and save a little on postage.
Maggie is on Harry hamster tasty mix just now but I’m not sure she’s loving it- she never eats any of the corn or the dark green cereal style pellets. She’s not really eating as much as normal at the moment (I think based on timing that this is due to a UTI which she is being treated for) hopefully she’ll be back to her usual appetite soon and that she likes hammykins as it’s vastly more expensive!
2 quick questions:
1) Should I be freezing this before using as if it were sprays? Never heard of needing to do that but the way my luck is going a bug explosion would just the the ticket! If freezing does it affect quality or taste? How long do you freeze for?
2) should I introduce gradually along with her existing diet to phase hammykins in as Harry hamster runs out?
(Hope it’s on to ask that on this thread- happy to start a new one if that’s preferred?!)
Yes- thank you!Hi,I freeze it just incase ,it's fresh veggies ,so always a chance. Personally I would also just switch her straight over, there isn't too much in harry hamster for it to be a shock.to.her system. I also give mine some science selective on the side . Hope this helps.
I freeze for.48 hours and defrost for 24 before refreezing for another 48. Hammykins is a complete food if.tour hammy isn't picky and doesn't eat just the best bits. It is still one of the best mixes on the market, but the science selective ensures that all bases are covered as it's a lab block designed for complete nutrition also. Muesli is recommended for hamster enrichment ,so they will forage and enjoy. When you see science selective,it.looks boring lol My Robin seems to enjoy it too though.Yes- thank you!
All new to me as Maggie is my first hamster so all advice is welcome.
Is there a reason for adding the science selective? I thought hammykins was a complete balanced mix?
How long do you freeze for please?
Thanks Maz ,it seems to work for me. I haven't had any issues .But I would say go with as long as you can and feel confident with.I freeze hamster food for a week, which is supposed to kill any bug eggs. It's what most of us on here doBecause the Hammykins mix isn't a commercial mix, it doesn't contain fortified vitamins. So although it's a complete nutritional mix, some people (and it's a good idea) also add a few science selective pellets to ensure they get all the nutrition needed - in case they don't eat all of the mix or ignore some bits.
Edit - posted at the same time as YorkieSo you've had different views on freezing
I do the freezing for a week to kill any potential moth eggs. 48 hours freeze, thaw and refreeze might have the same effect but I couldn't say

Well,I used to leave a separate dish of science selective and changed it every few days. But I found in the end she wasn't eating it at all then. I sort of duped her into eating it by mixing it into her hammykins. I used to scatter feed, but I only do that with her forage now, because when I put her food into a hide or dish,I can see her eating it. I give her a spoonful every couple of days,I have a coffee scoop that is ideal for her portion control. You don't need to give less hammykins as hammy will only eat what she wants and stash some. They remind me of cats as they don't tend to over eat,at least in my experience.Very helpful thank you!
How much would you suggest feeding of each please (hammykins and science selective) for female Syrian (aprox 2-3 months old)
Hammykins website says 2 teaspoons/day which is what I do with the Harry hamster as that’s aprox 10g.
Do you add the SS as an extra on top of that or do you do a little less Hammykins and make up to the two teaspoons volume total by adding in the SS?
