Hams really is your hamster and has bonded with you.
I can't remember, was he originally bought for your children or as a family pet or was it you who wanted a hamster?
I do remember that he travelled home inside your handbag.

He was brought for my daughter and she really wanted to keep him in her room but had hoped he would wake earlier so she could interact wt him. That didn’t work out so he came downstairs and I started caring for him and was determined to give him the best life possible after meeting you all here on the forum, learning so much and then turning his cage into something much more hamster friendly and nurturing. I’ve always been a big animal lover, having worked at a vets as my weekend job as a teenager.

I now like to think Hams is our family pet as everyone stops to chat to him when he pops out in the day and can give him a stroke, but each evening it’s just me he interacts with daily and he knows I keep his home tidy etc. He definitely responds to me more than anyone else and I love him loads, he’s such an adorable character.

Yes, handbag hamster he was, that was one crazy car journey. At least now we have a proper hamster carrier too.

It's interesting how hamsters sometimes respond to one human in particular. He's a lucky and lovely boy, loved by all the family.

Back home now and Hams was straight out the first night to see me, but as I had a migraine coming on yest, I didn't want to hang about so when he was slow I just put the fresh food in and went to bed. However, I was back downstairs by 1am to sleep sitting up. Hams was out pottering around, I said hello as didn't want to startle him, he obviously heard me and thought hey, where's my out time tonight and started chewing the bars by the door, cheeky thing. I sat listening for a while as couldn't sleep anyways and then heard a different kind of chewing, maybe I should've got up again but this morning I found this in one of his shoe box hides clearly he was a bit annoyed at not being let out....oops. That's gone in the bin, he's never chewed one to bits before.

Let Hams have a longer roam tonight he's completely into every thing this evening. Love chatting to him whilst watching him explore. He's back home now digging for treats

Day before yesterday I was sitting telling Hams his house needs a bit of clean and I guess he was listening, this was his overnight tidy, throwing all the old poops, food and bedding out the door
