Hammy. My little friend

In hamster years, she's almost as old as me now. I've spent a fortune on her. Some things have worked others haven't. But she's been worth every penny. When I had a hamster as a child, my knowledge then of how to care for them, was nowhere near what it is now, and I'm still learning.

I think that is the case for many of us - we learn from observing and seeing how they react to things :-)

More cute fluffiness :-) What is she eating there?

I love the way you've turned that cardboard/hay sand bath into a hammock! Great idea.

Have you see the photo competition? :-) There's one every month.

Thank you. She hasn't got it up at the moment, but it's more of a swing. I'm always trying to thing of new things for her, rather than throw it away, it makes sense if I can keep her entertained.

Lovely set up! The buried tunnel is super. Great, spacious sand bath and nice tunnels go run through. Cute little ramp leading to the front door ♥️ But I would take the heavy rocks out in case she tunnels under them or tries to dig under them and they collapse on to her. She has a great, interesting cage with lots to do 🏡♥️

Thank you. I've had the rocks in there a while now. She's never once been interested in digging anywhere near/or under them. She's only ever done it where there's been nothing on top, hence why I made an area on one side for her to burrow in. But Hammy being Hammy, has now turned that area into her nest.

It looks very nice :-) I agree about the rocks though - could you maybe put one on the base of the cage and the other on top of it? ie one would be supporting the other. There's always the chance she might try and burrow under them.

3 of them are almost on the base anyway. The one that is higher up is resting on some flattened shavings that are on top of a plastic tunnel buried beneath it.

That's great if one is supported underneath :-) If three are almost on the base, then they could be piled on top of each other maybe? Hamsters do sometimes try to do silly things! And stones are heavy.

It tickled me this morning when I found out she had moved out of her original nest and moved across the cage to the burrowing section. She'd been playing in it quite happily the last couple of day's, or so I thought. But it looks like she was preparing it. Crafty little monkey. 💕😀
