I joined this forum to discover more about hamsters and care for them. For the entirety of my existence, I have always had a passion for biology and zoology, and a great respect for all kinds of animals, not just hamsters. I aim to improve my knowledge in animals, how to care for them, and ways to bond with them. Should you have any recommendations, recipes, enrichment ideas, or general obscure facts about hamsters, you may share them with me!
Something I have found to be fascinating is their genetics, as in their genotypes and the effect it has on their appearance and general health. Healthy hamsters begin with careful and mindful breeding! I have owned dwarf hamsters from a misinformed pet store in the past, so they were definitely from a mill, but I'm moving forward by supporting ethical breeders, and looking into rescuing pet stores hamsters without supporting them.
