Gertie's sudden death at only 13 months was a huge shock. I kept talking to her because she looked asleep and put her in a carrier overnight with food because i couldn't believe she had gone. In my head i kept calling her name for a long time and expected her to wait for me in her Hamster Heaven. Gertie was a lovely and gentle hamster.

Oh Beryl, these words are just so heartfelt, sending hugs. All your hamsters have had such wonderful lives in your care and I’m sure they have great stories to tell the other hamsters they meet at the rainbow bridge.

Thank you Zara,

I feel quite drained and emotional now.
I wanted to write about the departed ones first, even though they will never be forgotten.

Tomorrow i'm going to move on to the living.
