Hi! I previously owned two hamsters 5-6 years ago and during this time forage mixes (with dried flowers and herbs) were not as commonly seen in hamster care. But, now I’m getting a new hamster and I ordered two different mixes, but I want to make sure I don’t use them wrong. I know you sprinkle them around the enclosure, but are they like a treat and should be used in moderation? Or is it okay to sprinkle them somewhat often?

Hello and welcome :-) I think it's fine to sprinkle them around - it depends on the hamster as to whether they decide to eat any! None of my Syrians did. But it can make it a more natural environment for them. I'd check there are no sharp twiggy bits first - I've found that with the ones with leaves in sometimes. I prefer just to get the dried flower mix for that reason.

Sprays are popular (again some Syrian hamsters might ignore them and others won't - dwarfs often eat them a lot!). So with something like flax spray, if they eat it all in one go you wouldn't want to replace it too often! Apart from the fact it can get expensive. Millet sprays are usually popular too.
