At, you asked how the poppies were doing. Here is the main area. I couldn’t even get all the flowers in! Luckily the rain yesterday didn’t beat down and so the plants are still upright.

The neighbour’s rose is peeping over. She is a very keen gardener and has lots of roses in bloom now.

On the shadier side, the poppies have worked very hard reaching up and out towards the sunny patches. Some flowers have been beaten down but the display is more than usual.
The rose bush hasn’t opened yet.

That's lovely, and the rose peeping over is quite nice and quirky - it's like a periscope ha ha.

They look lovely Coco, the ones on the shady side really stand out against the fence & glow.

Been browsing through plants trying to decide what I want for Zak & found a new must have geum, his spot isn’t sunny enough for this but I had to have one, this is definitely what I call flower power.

Geum tempo yellow

It’s a beautiful plant. I love the flowers.

What a wonderful choice, a beautiful plant for a special gentleman.

Hotting up again here. I have a north facing kitchen window sill and thanks to H’s care, 2 orchids do very well there and are now looking great.

They are lovely. Yes it's nice and sunny here today as well.

And the other one, with the slowest growing baby between them. Several years old!

Your orchids are flowering beautifully Coco.

I’m not using the geum for Zak as it wouldn’t work in his spot but I’ll have something just as special for him.

The tale of my fuschia. The bare area of trellis in photo 1 shows how much fuschia we lost because of the cold weather. Probably 75% of the old plant. The flowers were over my head in earlier years. The second photo shows the damage on one main stem and even that has worsened as much more needs cutting back after earlier growth then died back.
But new growth can be seen at ground level and we are waiting to see how that does and no more trimming for now.

Better news today as the first flowers are now opening. I am just not used to them being so low down!
Normally lowest growth would have been removed to allow the plant energy to concentrate on higher growth.
Not this year - just glad to see it alive.

That must have been very disappointing if it was so large. It's still a lovely fuschia. One of my favourite plants. They won't survive where we live though. I've tried before - I think the winters here are too much for them.

Yes, we were really worried for a while. In fact we were hoping to see at least one brand new stem grow from the root. As far as we can see, all the new growth is on the original stem and that has died further up. But the new growth seems strong if somewhat low down brushing against the grass!
It is in a sunny spot so maybe the warmth helped in the end. It is just so dry again.

It must have been a worrying wait but it does look pretty healthy now & lovely to see the first flowers appearing.
I’ve found a hard prune usually makes them grow back more vigorously so with time it could regain the height.
Do you give it any protection in winter? I usually put a horticultural fleece jacket over mine although I forgot last winter & it’s still alive!

It's going to be a scorcher today! Already hot outside early this morning.
