The old boy tumbled out of his sand shell again so i moved it to a lower platform where the access is level.
Had to move his coconut which he had been using as a toilet! That explained why his tank was getting smelly but i couldn't find a pee spot.
Luckily i had a spare coconut of the same type until i've washed the other one.
Finley sat in a tub with the substrate while i removed some branches. They look nice and give a younger Robo something to climb over but for Finley they were more of a hinderance getting about.
A few months ago Finley would have screeched the house down in a panic when taken out of his tank but now i can scoop him up without fuss and he just sniffs around.

They sound like brilliant adjustments for Finley. It is wonderful he feels ok with you touching his tank and you can scoop him up now.

Lovely to see Finley 💕 It's must be lovely to be able to scoop Finley up now without any fuss 💕

He's getting mellow in his old age :)

He probably knows he’s getting old and is just feeling comfortable with you looking after him 😍x

Aw bless him, so easy going in his old age 😍
I’m sure he’ll appreciate all the changes you’ve made to make life easier for him.

Always great to see little Finley out and about, is that a bunch of flax sprays he's about to munch on? He's so cute

I can never remember the name of that spray. It comes in a packet. Rosewood Pick N' Fly.

I think Finley has forgotten how to burrow! He lives completely on top of the substrate now. I got him a little corner house but he sleeps inside his coconut.

How rare is that for a robo? He must be that content and settled down now.

It must be lovely to see so much more of him. Do you think it might have anything to do with the heat or is he just changing his behaviour as he gets older?

I don't think it's the heat because it isn't hot now. He's blind but that shouldn't stop him from burrowing. He has 8in of substrate throughout his tank but no interest in burrowing. It really is like he's gone senile and has forgotten about typical Robo behaviours or simply can no longer be bothered to make the effort. He's not stressed or nervous and dotters about foraging, still goes for short runs on his wheel and sleeps a lot in his coconut.
I put a treat inside the house. Finley went in to get the treat then carried it to the middle of the cage to eat it.
The toilet paper strips from the house he also moved to the coconut.
I am so totally surprised by all this because we are talking Finley here.

Bless him! He sounds very happy with his new way of life, it probably is easier for him than bothering with all that digging & burrowing, I love the way he’s still moving things around though & putting them just where he wants them!
It’s lovely that you can stroke him now too.

You can stroke Finley! What wonderful news! This has made me so happy. Your love and patience has really paid off and Finley feels safe and secure with you. I feel emotional hearing this as I remember when he first arrived and all he had been through. I am so happy to hear this. Imagine what Orko would think if he knew this. ;)

Your situation with Orko was similar. For many months you watched him on night cam recordings, never pressurised him into anything like attempting to tame him for your own benefit. You were patient, loved and respected him for the lovely little character that he was until one day he decided that he wanted to meet you and spend regular time in his playpen.

Sadly, too many people want to tame Robos and force them into becoming sociable pets so the humans can interact with them. It doesn't work like that but can do if and when the Robo decides to.

Whatever makes him happy 👍😊

OH was steaming veg and the old boy was air sniffing so he got his portion early.
