Due to a move that unfortunately went completely different than planned (everything is against us; broken arm, cheated with a floor that was not delivered, other work that is delayed by various circumstances) Hammie has been in the duna large instead of her terrarium since late April.
I am very sad but Hammie seems happy in her duna.
Herewith the pictures of the duna, it is 100x50.
Not a perfect scape, but for now it suffices.
I had hoped she could have returned to her terrarium earlier, then I could have used the duna for a second little hamster now that the positive list seems to be going through, which makes russian dwarf hamsters banned in the netherlands.
Unfortunately there is so much to be done in the house right now that that is not practical. So I'm afraid Hammie really is going to be my last russian.

What do you guys think of this housing? Is this sufficient for a russian dwarf?

I find it much easier to clean, and maybe i will keep her in the duna in the bedroom when my house is finished, but only if this is a suitable long term housing. What do you think?

It looks amazing and I’m sure she’ll be fine. It’s obviously limited with bedding depth but a lovely enriched set up for her.

Glad you’ve made a decision. It sounds right to me - a new dwarf would need a lot of attention with taming and socialising etc and personally I find two hamsters is my limit. And even then if they were both gregarious I might not cope! I tend to have two different species or two different personalities for that reason. Two Raffy’s woukd mean I never got to bed ha ha.

I was thinking similar to you when Raffy got older - wanted a second hamster so I still had one to care for when Raffy goes. As it happens he is two and a half and still going strong at the moment.

It is a hard decision and i hope that a chinese dwarf hamster is still an option.

I can add some more bedding, but have to be creative with the wheel, where the bedding jas to be low.

She is back in her tank now, or, a completely new tank it is.
her previous tank got damaged during the move, and it costed just as much to have it repaired, or replaced.
So i decided on a new tank, 80x40x50, she seems very happy in it. it is completely in autum style.

Really sorry to hear of all the moving issues - it is a nightmare isn't it? I had a cage broken during a move as well. The new tank has a lovely set up for her. The tank is a little on the small side but she has lots of lovely bedding.

Loving the set up. All that bedding to dig in and lots of interesting things to investigate.

Sorry to hear the move has been tough going as well as work to your home. The new tank looks a lovely set up and she’s looking settled and very cute in the photos.

Her home is amazing, lovely for us too see and great for her to to go around in 🏡

Thank you all. Her previous tank was a bit bigger, but it was too expensive with all the moving costs to buy a new one that size. We still have a lot to do in our home before things are settled and ready.
She does seem to be very happy in this tank, it is better then the duna, because she can dig more now.
Floorsize is the same: duna 100x50cm, but 20x50cm without bedding because of the wheel.
