Crittertrail super connected to a crittertrail two level and finally a crittertrail treat zone. ♥️♥️🐹🐹🎁

Hello and welcome :) What is her name? She clearly has lots to do there. I'd be a bit concerned about the connecting tubes as they look quite narrow. She looks to have a decent amount of substrate at one end of the main cage, but adding more substrate to the main unit would allow her to dig tunnels and burrows which she'd enjoy. If you're thinking of upgrading at some point, one larger tank style enclosure would offer the ability to have a lot more bedding and enrichment, and take up about the same or less floor space :)

Hello & welcome to the forum.
I can see you’ve tried to give your ham lots of toys & a good size wheel there but I do agree with what Maz has said, the tubes are a bit of a concern (how old is she? If she’s still a baby she may be managing ok but could have problems when fully grown).
Female Syrians do need lots of space & lots of substrate to burrow in, you have put a fair amount of substrate in the larger unit but it will still be hard for her to create burrows with that kind of set up.
It is hard to create a suitable habitat with this kind of multiple unit set up & I think it would be worth considering an upgrade to a tank, you have lots of floor space there & could do a lot with that if you had one single large enclosure.

Having said all that, I'm aware in the US, the Crittertrail Super is seen as a reasonable minimum cage size and you have made sure she has a bit more than that too. They do benefit from more unbroken floorspace but I'm sure she is loved and happy. Looking forward to meeting your hamster by the way!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I'd get a big bin cage and mesh the lid then attach with a short, big enough tube to the Crittertrail on the right.

I think the two small cages on the left could be risky for a fully grown female Syrian and of little benefit due to their restricting size.

I know that people say that a hamster needs unbroken floorspace but i have attached two good sized cages with a short, large tube before and found that it worked. For the hamster it was no different than running through a tube to get from A to B.

You are lucky to have decent sized bin cages in the US and i wished we would have those in the UK.

There is actually a 200 quart bin available in the US (we're assuming you're in the US!). I think one large bin would be better than two joined together by a tube.

I just wanted to add. Many of us have been there! My first hamster set up was a 3 tier rotostak - smaller than your current set up. It was so bad that it became clear to me within a couple of weeks that the hamster had cage rage. So I googled and upgraded him to the minimum cage size. It's hard when you have spent money on something you think is great, only to find something else would be better! In your case it's not as bad as my first cage set up - it's borderline. It's not the worst cage in the world and not as small as some. We're just explaining the hamster needs and cautions and at the end of the day, it's up to you.

The other thing is - if you did upgrade to say a large bin cage, the current cage can still be good as play cage, eg for when you're doing a clean out, or as a temporary cage etc for some reason. One of the small ones may do as a pet carrier as well, if you ever need to go to the vets.

Ok :-) I expect you have a limited choice of cages and storage bins there - in which case you have probably got the best set up possible. It can be really hard finding big enough cages in some countries, or big enough bins. Then the only other option is diy.

It's lovely you have joined us :)

It is really hard to find things in the Ukraine. I can understand how hard it must be unless you are any good at DIY. I am hopeless at DIY myself. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable hamster owners here. Always willing to help and you have done your very best to get things set up for your hamster.
What is her name?
