Dust Bunny (also called Bunny and Fluffybutt) is my wife’s and my first Syrian hamster! We’ve only had him since May 20th this year, and we can only guess at his age (maybe two months?) We set him up in a Bucatstate 3.0 and are still adding new things to it when we come across them.

He seems really chill when he’s out of his hides. He doesn’t run away from us, and seems curious, but we haven’t tried picking him up yet (taking it slowly.) This morning I got the genius idea to pour his seeds into my palm so he could eat from there instead of the dish, but oh, the position for me was painful. 😅 I wouldn’t have moved for anything, though, because his little paws were touching me!

Afterwards, he went for his corn cob, which seems to be his favourite thing so far.

It's such a great name! And he's so fluffy! He sounds to have a lovely personality and I know that feeling where you can't move because they have a paw on you and you've waited for that for ages

Thank you! I’ve been undergoing treatment for Frozen Shoulder, and wouldn’t you know I chose that arm to feed him with? 😅 I was dying but no way would I move!

Ouch not pleasant - the things we go through for hamsters. I have a bad foot at the moment and have been off it a lot - so limit standing on it to doing the hamsters and let the humans sort themselves out 😂

The feel of their little paws on your hand is lovely. Dust Bunny is a beautiful hamster ❤️🐾 I hope your shoulder gets better soon.

I’m not sure now you update these threads, but today Dust Bunny took two treats from me, and the third time he thought my finger was a treat. Took a while for the bleeding to stop. 😅

Here’s a video of him taking a piece of carrot:

Ow that sounds painful! I've had that happen too. And it drew blood! He was probably just testing to see if you were edible :-) Dust Bunny is such a great name!

For videos you need to upload them to youtube and paste the link in the post. It then embeds the video in the post and it can be watched on here. You can set the video to be unlisted on youtube if you don't want it public. If set to unlisted then it only appears where you post the link. Don't set it to private though or the video won't show when you paste the link.

Okay, I’ll change it.

He's so gorgeous and fluffy :) He seems quite comfortable with you and taking food from you.

Dust Bunny is a very impressive hamster 🥰 I can imagine, his bite must be efficient 😮 but I'm sure he did not mean any harm. He might climb onto your hand and eat from your flat palm with less risk of blood shed? He has a lovely set up ❤️

The bite was my fault because after giving him two treats, I had my hand back in the cage still smelling of treat.
